October.

Foggy mornings bring in October, then turning into a lovely autumnal afternoons. A serious chill in the evening air makes you put the heating on.

Swallows.

Like the swallows I am leaving for a while.

Colour And Smell.

Part of a rainbow adding colour to the grey sky. Everything so lush and green in the countryside. The smell of manure drifting over from the farm.

Yum Yum

The last few days has been really lovely made the most of them. Clouding over at the moment rain promised for the weekend. Loads of apples on the tree yum yum yum!

Spiders Webs.

A misty September morning which promises a lovely day. The spiders webs are spangled with the morning dew. A peaceful and still morning.

Late summer.

Watching sticklebacks in the river swimming around. A heron flew over our heads so low that you felt the wings as it passed. A circle of toadstools. Also loads of red berries again. And a beautiful late summer day.

Moody Moon.

A moody moon hiding behind the dark rain clouds, looks like it is sulking.

Refuge Indoors.

Even the slugs and snails have taken refuge indoors after the amount of rain we have been having. The ants nest has disappeared it looks deserted. A blue sky and a pale yellow sun this morning.

Is Nearly Here.

As promised the rain came. The sweet song of the Robin was in the air. Watching raindrops on the leaves dropping steadily and quietly.
The Virginia Creeper is growing nicely and won't be long and it will be in it's autumn colours.
Autumn is nearly upon us, I can sort of smell and feel it in the air.

Skeins Of Geese

A beautiful sight of not one but two skeins of geese flying home to roost against the early evening sunset. No rain today!

Fox By The Wall.

Walking along the path at night just with the street lamp on a fox sat by the wall watching me, then it darted into to my garden and hid under the hedge till I walked passed then  it ran off.

Fire , cornfield.

A cornfield was on fire, heard the crackling of the dry corn, the fire service had it under control.

Cawing.

The cawing of the raven on a gloomy day,adds to the atmosphere. Elderberries are waiting to be picked,hanging around in clusters.

Pied Wagtail.

A grey and drizzly day, a pied wagtail, said hello and flew off. The grass seems to be recovering from the hot weather, not so brown now and beginning to get green again. A field of oats stands tall and proud.

Few Yards.

A partridge, a herd of deer and a squirrel all in a few yards of each other. The blackberries are really growing well, a bumper crop I think this year.

8 Swans.

8 swans on a river in France. Watching the sun goes down over the sea in Calais breath taking the colours.

Greeted By A Moth.

A huge moth greeted me in the little room. Male blackbird feeding his very  hungry chicks and not quickly enough!

Soft Rain.

Enjoyed a late evening walk in the soft rain, watching the ever changing sky. Also doing the slug and snail dance. Rather refreshing the soft rain.

Sweet Sound.

The sweet sound of the resident robin greeted me when I opened the back door this morning. Then looked down and the slugs and snails decided to rainbathe as we had rain overnight and in the morning.

3 Different Butterflies.

Just leaving the house I disturb some butterflies, a brown meadow, a tortoiseshell and now I think a rare one for my neck of the woods a peacock one.
Woken up in the early hours of the morning by a fox and her cubs making a noise like they do. It took me ages to get back to sleep.

Daughter's Cat.

Looking after my daughter's cat and as I walked to her house a lone parakeet flew over chattering away, then as I neared the house I think it was the same one it flew back to the direction it first came from, the cemetery.
Daughter's cat is more an outdoor cat he sits and waits for me and I found out that he likes sleeping on the trampoline. He doesn't wander bless him, I see him twice a day. He has got plenty of shade food and water that I make sure of especially in this heat and today is going to be hot.

Ladybirds.

Rescuing ladybirds from the hot pavements and putting them on the grass under the trees where it's a bit cooler and shadier.
The Virginia Creeper I planted last year which I thought I lost is coming into life.

Small thunderstorm.

A yellowish orangish sunset against a grey sky, then a huge flash of lightning lights up the sky, then a small rumble of thunder but no rain yet. Then the rain falls like big old fashioned pennies.

First Time.

First time using the garden waste bin, glad it's going to make compost which local residents can buy cheaply. An overcast day with a few light showers. Spiders galore at the moment.

Heron.

A heron sits on top of the shed, watching the fish in the pond. The pond does have a net over it.

A Swan, A Sheep.

A swan and a sheep sitting side by side on the riverbank a wonderful sight, they looked so happy and contented in each other's company.

Busy In The Country.

Brown meadow butterflies and grasshoppers in the fields nearby. Hay being cut and haystacks being made.

Big Ouch.

Disturbed a cabbage white butterfly while clearing up the garden don't who was most surprised, then a ladybird decided to land on me. Whilst clearing the stinging nettles( I do keep some for the wild life) I grabbed them forgetting that I have no gloves on and a very big ouch and my fingers are still tingling this morning.

Butterflies & Robin.

White cabbage butterflies fluttering in the breeze nearby. The resident robin popped his head round as to say I am still here. It was lovely to see him.

Just In Time.

Raking up the last of the tree clippings against the background of pigeons cooing a wonderful sound. Just in time doing that, the pitter patter of the rain started an other wonderful sound.

Cuddle Some.

Rescuing baby snails from the downpour, they look so sweet and cuddle some. After a day of rain by the looks of things today will be a good day.

Ladybirds.

Done the main gardening jobs before the rain really started to pour heavily.
Saw loads of ladybirds yesterday and quite a few decided to land on me, maybe they like the colour I was wearing.

Going To Be Busy.

Hoping to get into the garden this weekend at the moment it's rare for me to have a weekend at home.
Lots and lots to do so be very busy ,hopefully the weather will be just right.

Seagulls & Pigeons.

My other half confusing seagulls with pigeons! The rose bush has three roses and one bud.

Flying Ants.

Everything is very much the same these past few days , apart from flying ants! Overcast in the morning turns into late afternoon,early evening sunshine, but very muggy.

Put On The Back Burner.

The fox hunting bill has been put on a back burner for a while GOOD. Then a friend sends over an article about what happens to foxhounds if they do not make the grade. Not nice reading.
On a more pleasant note, even though it's grey and rain is in the air it is quite nice out there. It's a bit fresher.

Wonderful Contrast.

Seeing the cornfields swaying in the breeze against the green of the fields, a wonderful contrast.

Something Interesting Not!

While sitting down something kept flapping outside from the hedge it just caught my eye, thinking it was something interesting I turned to look at it properly and it turned out to be the biggest bramble going.

Summer Is Back.

Summer is back after having a few grey but warm days with a few showers. The morning brings promises of a lovely summer day.
The grey blackbird is still busy bless him carry food and bedding for his nest.

Parakeets.

A grey dull rainy morning, it was brightened up by seeing a flock of parakeets in a graveyard. A lovely sight.

Beady Eye

The grey blackbird flew past me with a tasty morsel in his beak, he flew on to the fence fixed his beady eye on to me , then flew off again. Cabbage whites fluttering amongst the lavender bushes with the bees.

Along Came A Fox.

A grey wet morning turn into a lovely refreshing afternoon and evening. It was not to hot just right.
The fox came into the garden and sat with the cats for a while had a drink then went.

A Grey Blackbird.

A grey blackbird flew on to the fence, to be honest he had a little black in him. A tortoiseshell butterfly fluttered amongst the butterfly bush.

The storm was not that bad here. Woke up to a fresh cool morning. The smell of the wet earth hit me when I opened the back door and the two cats that were out in the storm just walked in as to say what's the fuss!
The cool breeze during the night was bliss.
And the slugs and snails decided to come out to enjoy the weather, most of them are back in their little rooms, the stragglers are just going back to their rooms.

The Storm Is Here.

And let the storm begin. The lighting is the brightest I have seen for a long time and the thunder is what I call awesome. The rain is falling heavily, but we do need this rain. Two of the cats are out they will not come in and the other one is sitting at the back door looking out.

Rain.

We had rain, it was short  heavy showers, but at least we had rain. The birds are back now it's cooler, the pigeons are strutting their stuff on  the roofs. But it's still hot but not as hot as the other day.

My roses are doing well a good show again. The ant hill is now quite busy now it's cooler.

85f in the living room.

A much fresher and cooler morning, the breeze is so much appreciated. Yesterday the living room hit 85f the hottest it's been ever. We had a heavy shower of rain in the afternoon, it was a short one. It was nice to see it. Hopefully we won't get an other hot day like yesterday. The forecast for today is patchy rain and a bit cooler.

Very Hot Morning.

At the moment a breezy sunny hot morning. The sky is so blue, but no birds, no bird songs, no insects not even a fly! The ants out front are quiet. The temperature indoors is hitting nearly 80f I don't do centigrade and  that's with the doors and windows open. The cats are finding somewhere cool to sleep.

Hot.

It has been very hot today and tomorrow even hotter. The wildlife have been very quiet not even seen any birds. Just saw midges at dusk. Even my cats don't like the heat.

Very Hot Weather.

They say that Wednesday is going to be the hottest day about 35c wow! So please take care and try and stay cool. Plus also thunderstorms are supposed to be coming in as well.

Shimmering and Hazy.

A shimmering moon with what looks like a hazy rainbow around it. A crow visited the roof opposite and was displaying his wings and he was having a good look around. A very cool breezy morning , there is a smell and feel of rain in the air.

Bats.

A navy blue evening sky at dusk then all of  a sudden a deep rosy pink sunset. A sight I don't see to often which is a shame seeing bats flying around. Just lovely to stand quietly and watch them, they are so graceful.

Foxes and Noise.

A overcast morning nice and cool. Heard the foxes last night there was more than one, the noise they made was quite deafening so eerie.
The pigeons continue to strut their stuff on the roofs opposite.
Now the sun is beginning to peek through the clouds.

Bees and Ants.

A hazy sunny sort of a day but very warm. The bees are buzzing about their business. They are still with me being busy as usual.

Slug And Snail Dance.

Finally bought myself a book on wild flowers, so when I am out and about I can identify them, I know quite a few but it's nice to be identify all I see.
Back to a grey morning and rain, but the rain is much needed.
The pink geraniums have flowered again giving a good show. My rose I thought last year has grown and flowered well again which I am pleased about.
All ready I am thinking about what to do for next year in the garden.
At the moment it is going to be the slug and snail dance up the garden path. To be honest not seen a lot at the moment. I hate treading on them so I look very carefully and sort of tiptoe up the path to avoid them.

Orange sunset.

An orange sunset against a dark grey sky then the rain hit big time.

Sunny Then Grey.

Such a beautiful sunny early morning then a really huge grey cloud came over. Hopefully the rain will hold till I cut the hedge it's not a big hedge so it won't take long to cut. And I did remember to but the battery on charge.

Some Grass Left.

Mowed the lawn front and back. While doing the back lawn I came across the dead pigeon, I thought the fox has taken it.
Forgot to put on the charger for the hedge clipper, so note to oneself put the charger on so it be ready in the morning.
I left a bit of long grass in the front as there was some ladybirds in it. Also looks like the ants have gone.

Here comes summer?

Here comes summer, I think, I am a bit afraid to say it's here, but the sky is blue the sun is out, a mixture of white and grey clouds an even mixture of both. It's a bit chilly in the morning and it was last night. But it promises to be a nice day.

Birds.

Found the remains of a dead pigeon in the back garden so the fox is still about. Startled a blackbird as I was passing by he had a beak full of worms, also saw a thrush looking for snails I have got plenty in the back garden.

Over cast.

Overcast and humid waiting for the thunderstorms to come as promised by the weathermen. Rabbits in the grass verges having brunch.

Topsy Turvey.

Enjoying this topsy turvey weather we just been having. Having a really hot day, then the next day a cold winter like day , you don't what to put on summer or winter clothes is the question.
The birds,snails and slugs insects to are all ok, the Robin has been very quiet but he is still about, you feel his eyes on you when you go past his tree.

Pheasant Family.

Saw a pheasant family out walking in the late afternoon sunshine, so sweet. And hay is being made nice to see that as well. To top it all saw stunning views whilst out all this under a beautiful blue and sunny sky. Bliss!

Quite Quiet

Done quite a bit in the garden.
The snails and slugs are still with me. The Robin had been quiet lately but he is still with me. Loads of insects around especially midges. The fox no sign of.
Expecting thunderstorms today proves its summer.

Rain tried to stop cutting.

Cut the front lawn before the rain started. Still got the ant nest but left it alone as I am sure that I leave the ants alone they don't come in the house.
Had a week away to a completely different landscape, shingles and sea, and the wonderful wildlife it had to offer, mainly wildflowers, now to identify the flowers from the photos.

Rain stopped cutting .

Rain stopped cutting the grass, been away came back to grass quite long, round my way the lawns are neat and tidy cut till you can't cut anymore, while it looks nice it doesn't help with the wildlife, so I keep my grass resonably short, but leave  a patch for the wild life so the best of both worlds I hope, keeping the neighbours happy and more important keeping the wildlife happy.

Beautiful nature.

2 ghostly herring gulls flying overhead at night time, fascinating to watch.
A rainbow so close that you can nearly touch it and the colours so vibrant, you could see each colour of the rainbow so clearly. At to top it up a stunning sunset all purples reds and pink.

Lilac

The strong perfume of lilac out of this world.

Spring morning.

A lovely spring morning after all the unsettled weather we been having. Love to go out into the garden but have got to much to do indoors. But the honeysuckle is still doing well, lots of bees have visited it which is good.

House Martins.

The house martins have returned such joy to see them. Welcome back!

Hail stones.

Got caught in a shower of hail stones,forgot how much they sting when they hit you. A lonely daffodil bloomed in the pot, it was one of the bulbs I forgot to plant for an early spring show.

Tadpoles And Bats.

The tadpoles in the pond have grown since I last had a look. The midges have come out in droves and now is the time to get bitten by them. The dragonflies hover over the pond they are so pretty. And seeing bats emerging from their sleep.

Fruit Trees.

Friends fruit trees have arrived,guess what I be doing? Help planting them.
 I must badly do my own gardening. The garden is a mess at the moment. But I have decided to do a little each day otherwise I will never get on top of it.

The weatherman was right.

Well after the previous post not much happening, it's raining and raining. The flowerbeds near the stream have been planted with lavender bushes . I noticed that my rose bush is coming into bloom, hopefully the rain won't knock any buds off.

Not much has been happening.

Not a lot has been happening all is well. The weather has been rather nice these pass few days, but the promise of rain is upon us, been unable to get into the garden but hope to soon.

Lilac Tree.

Dull overcast morning but the weatherman said that the afternoon is going to be sunny.
The lilac bush near the stream is in full bloom and it looks gorgeous. But unfortunately even though the stream is clear it doesn't smell nice. Shame the scent of the lilac couldn't mask the smell,of the stream, that is how bad the stream is.

Like confetti.

As far as the eye can see nothing but bluebells. The blossom scattered across the grass like confetti at a wedding.
A deer in the road trying to get back from where it came from and fortunately it did.

Worms and Ants.

Worms galore! I have got so many worms in the back garden now, it's a good job I like them  and not scared of them anymore like when I was little.
And I noticed the other day the ant nest has gone. I left it alone and no ants came indoors,coincidence? I like to think that I respected them they respected me.  The worms I will leave them alone and let them get on with their work, but must tiptoe over them. A new dance for the season tiptoe over the worms.

Scent and Bulbs.

The scent of the honeysuckle is so gorgeous as I pass it to bring in the washing.
The bulbs i planted really late are flowering now. The tulips have finished flowering they gave an excellent show, but the daffodils didn't maybe next year.

Blossom.

A very blustery day yesterday the wind was very bad for this time of the year. The blossom on the trees have now fallen and it is a shame as blossom looks so lovely. But some trees have held on to its blossom.

A flash of red.

A flash of red in the garden this morning, haven't seen the fox for a while so was pleased to see the flash of red.
Really tipping down with rain.

Deer in the woods.

Some deer walking through the bluebell wood. Masses of blue bluebells under the trees. And the songs of the birds made a nice afternoon out.

Sparrow.

A sparrow running up and down on the lawn chasing insects.

Once again it's raining.

Sorry to be boring, but dare I say it , it's raining! Typical bank holiday weather,well in fact as the saying goes it's raining cats and dogs. And I forgot to bring in the washing ,I have to go and get it in. Might take a quick walk around the garden and try my new gardening clogs out.

Blossom.

May started off ok but with a chilly wind. The blossoms on the trees look gorgeous so hopefully the rain will hold for a while so we can enjoy the blossom for a little longer.  The pink and white blossom against the green leaves, nature got it right.

A snail.

A snail out for its evening walk, it's shell sparkling in the evening sun. Sunshine and showers today, and a cold blustery wind.

Song Thrush.

The song thrush singing so loud that it filled the sky up as I was putting out the washing out,could not see it but it was somewhere in the garden,I think in the apple tree.
Spoke to soon about the Robin I walked up the garden path and he had a little go at me so said hello and he ruffled his feathers and went back to his nest.

White lilac.

The white lilac has just put in a show just noticed it this morning. Started of as a nice spring morning now the clouds are coming over at the moment it is dry.

A quiet wet day.

Two soggy wet cats just came in. The pigeons are all huddled under the tree cooing quietly to each other,
The resident robin has been quiet of late, no doubt being busy with his family.
Slugs and snail galore!

Slug and Snail Hotel.

As promised the rain came in overnight, but it made the green foliage really stand out,so vibrant.
Also it's bringing the slugs and snails out. The slug and snail hotel is now opened! Saw loads of silvery trails on the path and on the geraniums! The honeysuckle seems to grown overnight it looks lovely.

Honeysuckle.

The honeysuckle has exploded into a mass of green leaves and so many buds it's going to look gorgeous.

Dinner, finally & must.

1. Waited in for a parcel for a friend which never turned up. But had a nice diner cooked for me. Yum yum.
2. Finally came of a writing site, at first it was lovely to be on it sharing the written words with each other, but it has got very cliquey and a lot of the writing is very very dark, but hey each to there own.
3. Still plodding on with the hexagons, made loads without realising, but still got loads to do as they are small. Must try and take some photos.

Colours of nature.

All the different shades of green of nature mind boggling. An absolute beautiful sunset the colours were stunning, shame I didn't have a camera with me, mind you a photo wouldn't have gave the sunset justice. Not only that the other drivers wouldn't been happy if we stopped suddenly.

Happy Christmas Tree.

A beautiful crisp sunny spring morning would like to work in the garden, but at a friend's waiting for a parcel, which should of been delivered yesterday! Hopefully it will come today.
But did get to water their plants outside last night. The Christmas tree is coming along very well, it's seems very happy where it's been put.
They planted an other mini allotment, they planted potatoes, carrots, beetroot, radishes, cauliflower , then they are going to put in strawberries runner beans. So they are going to be busy.

Bees,bugs and birds.

A bumble bee buzzing among the red tulips, armed ladybird sitting on the fence having a rest.
Canadian geese flying home to roost at the end of the day.a bird of prey hovering over the motorway quite high in the sky.

Have a nose.

Geese in the farmyard having a good nose around. Saw the first bluebells under the dappled trees.
Bit chiller of late but still the sun shines.

Little insects.

Met a ladybird in the garden sitting on the fence, ants were busy going about their business . Wood lice peeking from their hiding place. Saw no slugs or snails, but saw their trails though. Dealt with the weeds. And must not forget the worms.

Say hello.

Out in the garden I will go and most probably be greeted by the slugs, snails, worms and whatever bugs choose to say hello.
Last night I saw the bright evening star shining as bright as could be actually it was early evening just before dusk changed into night.

Swan.

A swan sitting on it's nest looking so serene and graceful.

Promises.

Promises of warmer days lovely. But the nights and early morning is still chilly though, for we had a slight frost.

Yellow Butterfly.

A yellow butterfly fluttered by. Later at dusk two geese flew over to go home to roost.Woke up to a frost. How changeable our weather is! Warm spring days, then rain now frost, but it promises to be a lovely day.

An abundance of red tulips.

An abundance of red tulips this year, looking very lovely. The daffodils did not do well but never mind. Lots in the garden to do .
The Robin has made his self known again just put out the rubbish and away he went with his attack and then he saw one the cats and flew in his tree still arguing away. Bless him he is only defending his territory.

Shires Horses.

Sitting in the peace and quiet of the countryside while partner and son did some work. Saw my first white butterfly of the season.
Also saw three shire horses with their heads over the gate. Such beautiful horses, so graceful.

Spangling.

Birds nesting under the eaves. Cobwebs covered in dewdrops,Spangling like diamonds on a tiara.

Allotment.

Friends have done their allotment for this year, looking good.
 The huge birds nest in the tree seems to got bigger, it looks like a skyscraper.

Gardening In The Rain.

I have decided that I like being out in the rain while gardening not the downpour heavy rain, but what I call soft and gentle rain. The smell of damp earth Is lovely, also makes weeding a bit easier. That is what I did for a little while, and I noticed a snail.

Blue Tits.

An abundance of blue tits this year by the looks of things. And yes it's raining again! But not so cold.

The swans are back.

Rain and high winds again. This morning started of grey but by mid morning the sun popped out.
The swans are back in the local pond nice to see them back again.
I am sure the honeysuckle is going to be the best this year , that hard pruning did some good.

April is here.

A cold bright sunny windy start for April. Be interesting to see if we will have April showers. Blue tits carrying nesting materials, so they are very busy.
The resident Robin has been a bit quiet of late.
The daffodils are still bobbing along and the tulips are beginning to bud. Happy days.

Miniature Balloons.

A grey rain lashed day. The daffodils are bobbing about like miniature yellow balloons in the wind.

Honeysuckle and wisteria.

The honeysuckle is getting into full leaf looks like it's going to be a good year for it.
The wisteria is slow this year just being to come into flower, mind you it was cut back servely last year at the wrong time!

Lonely pigeon.

A lonely pigeon sits on the roof in the rain. The raindrops on the apple tree branches are clinging on tight they look like that they do not want to fall. The lonely pigeon has now flown off with an other pigeon.

Spring flowers.

Just noticed that the daffodils in the back garden are in bloom, the ones in the front garden are nearly in bloom. The tulips will follow shortly.
It's very windy and chilly, but at least it's dry.
The purple and white hyacinths are getting along lovely.

Sorry?

After a bit of a damp squib of the eclipse a lovely sunny afternoon . Then a glorious sunset,maybe the sun was saying sorry for us not seeing the eclipse.

No show!

The eclipse has been and gone. In this neck of the wood it just got colder and a little be more chillier but apart from that nothing reall happened. We have now a lovely afternoon.

Primroses.

Saw wild primroses the native ones when I was passing the fields going to work. So beautiful and to me spring is on the way.
Won't be long and the bluebells will be out.

Pigeons.

Unfortunately the fox got a pigeon. It's feathers are on the grass. It's nature and the fox has to eat, but some say pigeons are a pest.
On the roof opposite saw two dark pigeons with white tail feathers.

Eclipse .

After a grey day yesterday, a slightly brighter start no rain at the moment,
Looking forward to the eclipse on Friday really am, saw the last one years ago and that was awe inspiring . Can't wait for Friday!

Grey morning.

The rain silently came in over night to give a grey morning. The pigeons who usually sit on the rooftops are taking shelter under the trees. But a blue tit is out scouting.

Blossom will be here soon.

Still enjoying this warm and sunny March . The cats are out sunning themselves they are leaving the birds alone.
At the moment the slugs and snails haven't arrived yet for their holiday.
The magnolia is coming into blossom in a neighbours garden. Looks very pretty.
Just thought blossom time will be with us very soon, can't wait!

Found a slug.

It won't be long now and the the snail and slug holiday home will re-open. Found a slug on the path making its way to its holiday home in the damp part of the garden. Maybe it's going to spring clean all the apartments for the rest of the guests which are due to come soon.

Bird of prey, not!

I got all excited thinking I saw a bird of prey in the tree eating its prey, I looked a bit more closely and saw it was a pigeon instead! Well it was dusk and the tree was quite shaded.

Strong and sturdy.

The camellia bush has plenty of buds and it won't be long and it will in flower.
The Christmas tree is growing well, strong and sturdy . It's taken to the spot where it's planted very well.

Rain later.

Thought it be to good to be true, rain coming in later!
So made the best of this sunny day, washing out and drying well.
Heard the honk of the Canadian Geese. He sounded happy.

Drying day.

After a grey dull start the day looks like it's going to be a lovely day.
Putting out washing day, the wind is just right for drying clothes.
Hearing birds running up and down on the roof,yes birds not rats or mice, got magpies in a nest .

Seagulls still here.

The seagulls are still on holiday with us,still enjoying the pond and being with the local wildlife.The little violas are poking their little heads through in the front garden and very pretty they are too.

Seeds and bulbs.

Scattering flower seed in the bare patches. The bulbs I planted in the rain some are beginning to show life.

Flowers here and there.

Orange and mavue crocuses on the side of the road. Tulips and daffodils in the garden nearly through,  beautiful spring like day. The cats ignoring the birds as they sit outside enjoying the sunshine.

Scattering of snowdrops.

A scattering of snowdrops beneath a tree,so small and delicate but we know, that they are very strong plants.
The white of the snowdrops flowers against the dark green leaves, stunning.

Whistle down the chimney.

An other windy but bright day.
The seagulls are still with us,they must be enjoying their holiday.
The wind is whistling down the chimney it's quite eerie listening to it.

Pinkish Dawn.

A pinkish blush of  dawn this morning. Very chilly, in fact very icy even though the sun is out.
And being  the windy month of March  windy very windy.

Happy March

First day of March, spring is around the corner. The clocks will be going forward.
The weather is cold but nice, hope March will be a good month. Looking forward to the spring flowers and blossom to come forth. And for more sunshine.

Spring soon.

The sun is out, the sky is blue, the Robin is in his tree singing again.
Loads of blue tits flit across the garden. Pigeons are sunbathing on the roofs opposite.
The daffodils and tulips are growing quite quick.
And it's been warmer of late. Not forgetting the evenings are drawing in a bit later now,spring will be here soon. Yay!

Planting in a nightdress.

Found some daffodil and hyacinth bulbs what needed badly to be planted, so I went out in my nightdress in the pouring rain and planted them. I don't think that they will take, but who knows? I hope so.

Spring is slowly coming.

There is much activity in the bird world, building nests finding mates.
The residential Robin is still in his home and still singing his heart out.
No sign of the fox though.
Daffodils are now pushing through and I noticed tulips leaves are pushing through as well.
The weather is very changeable at the moment.
So everything in the garden is fine so to speak.

Hibernating

I have decided to hibernate for a while, might wake up in the spring.

Been and gone.

Snow in the morning, gone in the afternoon.
An other beautiful sunset.
Ps. My purple hyacinth has got 6 flowers, 2 per bulb and they are really gorgeous.

Changeable.

Sunshine and showers,rain,sleet and snow showers. At the moment brilliant sunshine with a few clouds. Very changeable today the weather.

Snow still here.

The Snow is still here. The cats have been out in it , one cat loves it, she enjoys being out in it.
The birds are singing but above them all you hear the robin. Which makes me wonder which bird has the loudest song in the bird world, have to do some research.

The snow has come.

Finally the snow has come, the proper stuff, not the snow that hits the ground then disappears. It is bitter out there.so wrap up warm if you have to go out and stay safe.

Birds and more birds.

The birds I have noticed in and around my town: magpies,pigeons,blue tits,great tits,thrushes,Ravens,crows,pied wagtails,chaffinches,sparrows,collard doves,not seen the owl but it has been seen by a friend. Blackbirds, green finches,ducks,swans,Canadian geese,seagulls and not forgetting the resident robin. Coots and moorhens as well.

An ode to the weather.

Snow snow,
Rain rain rain,
Snow snow,
Sleet sleet sleet,
Rain rain,
And all through that,
A very bitter gusty wind,
Wind wind wind.

Snow early in the morning.

Being phoned up at 5:am to be told it's snowing! Then it stop snowing, now it's snowing again.
A lone pigeon resting on the fence taking refuge from the snow.

Spring won't be long.

A beautiful sunset and lighter evenings. It won't be long and spring will be here.
The snow now has completely gone, but it was quite ferocious when it came down.

A block of nests?

Dark green ivy with cream & green streaks,very dark clusters of berries against the brick wall.
A very small bit of blue sky sandwiched between two very dark grey clouds.
Five nests high up in a tree. A block of nests?
Yes the snow did come, a sprinkling, then it went.

Blackbird in a hurry.

The indoor & outdoor hyacinths are doing well. Still have got one lone daffodil in the front garden, but the others won't be long and they will be through.
Saw a blackbird scurry across the fence, looked liked that he was in a hurry.

Presence known.

Two seagulls flying overhead squawking to each other,making their presence known.
After a few mild calm days, the cold and wet have returned, along with the wind which is quite strong.

Daisies & hyacinths.

Had the bonus of a late afternoon sunshine while I had a walk. Saw daisies growing on a lawn and a hedge with plenty of orange berries.
The hyacinths I got the other day are growing strongly,it won't be long and they will be in flower.

Concrete jungle.

A magpie came to close for comfort, when driving along.
Driving from the countryside to a concrete jungle, at first look it shocks you, seeing nothing but tower blocks, blocks of flats, hardly anything green. Then I opened my eyes , a lot of flats had window boxes on the balconies , in the spring and summer it must look lovely. Then there was a huge park behind the flats and there were trees planted in between  the flats .
Learnt my lesson,open my eyes take a good look around even in concrete jungles there is beauty, never judge by the first look.

Mud mud.

Mud mud glorious mud.The Christmas tree has been planted and it looks good.
Beening out in the garden has blown some cobwebs away. And it was very muddy.

Gardening today.

Going to help plant a Christmas tree today.
My little violets are beginning to wake up, their leaves are through.
Treated myself to some blue and purple hyacinths.
So it's gardening today, the weather looks good today for it.

Nice morning.

A nice sunny frosty morning. Sky is blue, makes a change from the grey dull mornings we be having lately. No wind. The robin in his tree singing away.

Blue hyacinths.

Two swans swimming in the lake. A chaffinch flew down and picked up some food. A robin flew across my path while waiting for the bus.
The countryside was covered in mist and when I came back to town it rained.
The hyacinths in the garden are just poking through lovely, are going to be blue.

Badgers.

No snow, only the few white flakes what we had yesterday. Just dull and grey again.
My sister had the badgers returning to her garden, she has no problem with them. My mother said that one of the badgers is so huge, even their cats are wary of it.
There are badgers where I live but I have never seen them and they never visit me, but like my sister I would have no problems with them.

White flakes.

A very few white flakes fell today, but as soon they hit the ground they disappeared . Now the sun is out and it's quite warm.

The river.

I didn't realise how much I missed the river near work until today . I went back to work after the flu and walked by the river it was so lovely to hear it rumbling along happily.
At the moment there is no rubbish to be seen in the river.

The duck.

Saw a duck sitting on a sawn down tree trunk, he was having a good look round and he looked so happy and contented.
After a grey morning, the afternoon was sunny, but cold.
Just seen the fox and it really looks well. It's coat looks healthy and shiny. So glad that I have seen it, I was wondering about it and hoping it was well. Must find out if it is male or female.

No wind.

Still no snow, but it is wet,dull and very grey again. The pigeons are huddled up together on the roofs opposite. And for once there is no wind, it is so still out there.

Blue tits.

Two blue tits sitting amongst the honeysuckle, making the most of it as the cats are not out, they prefer to stay in the warm. Mind you my cats don't catch birds, they just look at them and just walk away.
I noticed that a lot of my posts are about birds.

Spring bulbs.

Found the spring bulbs that should of been planted last year for this years show, whoops! I still might plant them and see what happens.
A great tit sits in the beech tree as I walk under it and it just looks at me then flies off. Weather at the moment is cold but sunny.

Seagulls.

The seagulls are still enjoying their holiday on the pond, they are in their winter plumage and they do look handsome.  A duck decides to chase a seagull who got to close to him.

No snow at the moment.

Well no snow in my neck of the woods at the moment. Woke up to a bright crisp sunny morning.
The birds are busy . The collared doves are still tormenting the robin, who sits high in the sweet chestnut tree , you just about see him.
One thing about my neck of the woods it gets very windy.

Only the wind.

The sky goes from really black to a brilliant blue in minutes , from heavy showers to sunshine again in minutes. Only the wind is constant .

Maybe snow later.

Just rain at the moment, promise of snow later, a lot of people I know are happy for it to snow, but I am not one of them.
Everything animal, bird wise is very quiet, they are all keeping themselves to themselves .
Saw the first leaves of the daffodils poking through the ground in the front garden, so it won't be long and I will have instant sunshine.

Out in the garden.

Spent a lovely hour in the garden this morning, taking down the lights and doing a quick tidy up of the garden . It was lovely  and warm with the sun shining. Nice to be out in the fresh air.

Christmas trees.

The Christmas tree fell over, must go outside and pick it up, friends want to put it into the garden but have to find a suitable spot. As you can guess the tree has got it's roots.
When I was a little girl we had a huge Christmas tree in the back garden and every year people would ask my dad if he would sell it and he always said no. In the end my dad had enough, he put up a notice in the front garden The Christmas Tree is NOT for sale. And he did that for a couple of years just before Christmas and then people got the message.Our guinea pigs used love hiding under the Christmas tree and it was mine and my brother's job to rescue them, my sister wouldn't, because she did like the creepy crawlies.

Changeable.

A grey wet dismal morning changed into a mellow yellow sunny afternoon, hopefully a promise of things to come soon. Then the weather changed again to a grey wet dismal  evening.
The robin is still guarding his terrority with all his might. Collared doves have taken to sit in the trees in the front garden, upsetting the robin , but he is not giving up that robin.

Raindrops.

Raindrops are everywhere today, the honeysuckle looks like a huge tiara with raindrops.

Promised myself.

When I am over this flu bug thing ,I promised myself that i will have a walk in the lanes near me ,haven't done that for years, what puts me off it's the way some people drive through the lanes as if they own them, but I have got a hi vis to wear and if I am sensible I should be ok.
A beautiful pink long cloud stretching from here to there against a blue sky, then it's suddenly darkens and the rain comes.

Pegs

Blue tits sitting on the washing line, like pegs, swinging to and fro, chattering away to each other.
Pigeons flying over head . The nest in the tv airel is still going strong.

Not going out.

Not a day for going out, grey, damp and miserable. The raindrops are clinging on the blades of glass like crystals, so perfect they brighten up the day .

Soggy.

Putting out the rubbish just when dawn is breaking, just hearing the rain pitter patter steadily , no birdsong no nothing.
Three soggy cats rushing in as soon as the back door opens, meowing as they come in, as to say how dare you, leave us out in the rain. Hey but I did call you to come in, but you didn't , not my fault.

Quiet time.

Took a quick walk in the garden this blustery morning and noticed that the hyacinths have started to poke their green leaves through. The geraniums and the cyclamen are still going strong, survived the frosts we had. They are in pots so I can shelter them easily. The rest of the garden looks ok.
