Overhead

On my walk I saw some green finches flying in and out of a hedge , not very often I see them . The spring flowers are putting on a good show. Overhead 3 parakeets flew squawking away to each other , you hear them before you see them .

Thinking

We are being encouraged to have an hour exercise, mine is walking , but where I live it’s more of  a concrete jungle. I have one my eyes more and listen more to see and hear the beauty of nature. The trees are beginning to unfurl their leaves . The blossom is beginning to come out more adding a spot of colour.
My daily visitor came this morning , sat on the swing and looked at me through the window for quite some time ,wonder what he was thinking?

Thank You Robins

An other lovely spring like day but a bit more windy.
The robin came to visit again sitting on its favourite spot on the fence . It is so reassuring to see the robins in this difficult time I do so appreciate them visiting . I do my best to look after them . So thank you robins you mean so much more to me than words can say .

Looking Forward

The peace and quiet continues only the sounds of nature breaks it now and again.
Next doors cat comes a bit more into the back garden and so does the Tom cats in the area yep it’s the beginning time of that! Wish people would get their cats done both male and female.
The robins have been also quite quiet.
The weather is lovely fresh and bracing . At the weekend I will be going out into the back garden to do some tidying up.
I think I know where to put the wildlife garden . There is a nice spot on the left hand side in the morning it’s shady and in the afternoon it’s sunny but not until late afternoon . So when I am out there over the weekend I will have a good look and start making plans . Looking forward to do that.

Yellow Tulips

The yellow tulips spread out their petals to capture the warmth of this march sun. An other glorious spring day .
A bumble bee looking for somewhere to rest it decided to rest awhile on the honeysuckle which is sprouting it’s green leaves.

Tulips

The red tulips are pushing their way through. A ring of mushrooms/toadstools adorn the back garden . Looking at the night sky I am sure that the stars are twinkling more brightly.
The robins are busy and a blackbird sings as it looks for food

One Pigeon

A lone pigeon on the roof opposite first one I seen for ages.
Robin and blue tit eye each other up on the fence but decided to ignore each other .
A beautiful spring day and the greenery against the perfect blue sky looks lovely.

The Robin Chronicles

The robins seem to be settled in the garden now. And in this difficult time it is a pleasure to see them hopping about . They are getting quite adventurous one even coming near the patio door. Must find a safe place to put some bird food out for them as I noticed that next door cat was in the garden again but only for a short while. Then all of a sudden a blue tit flew into the garden and sat awhile.

The Robin Chronicles

Granddaughter was amazed to see the 2 robins in the garden even daughter was. How lovely they both whispered.
A rather grey and dull day with a bit of rain , but quite fresh out there..

Confetti

The robin on the fence again with his redbreast ruffling in the wind.
Past couple of days the weather has really been spring like and quite warm . The blossom is now coming out . It’s like pink and white confetti went it falls.

Ducks and Planes

The ducks turned up their beaks to the bread people fed them with. They were all snuggled up on the banks.
A notice said you are entering the quiet wood so please turn of your phone and keep talking to a minimum so you can enjoy nature’s sounds,  and all you could hear was the airplanes flying overhead.

Alas

Geese and hens roaming free in a garden, not mine alas . Wish I could have some but I don’t think my neighbours would be happy. I can always dream. Also the garden is to small.
A partridge sitting in the field watching all the traffic go by. I wonder what he was thinking?
Still places a bit flooded but not as bad as it has been.

Blessed

Be very blessed, 2 robins at the same time in the garden one on the fence and one on the old swing frame. Both looking in , I don’t have nets at the back , so I could see them , them me . They stayed for a while and then they went.

Song Thrush

Hidden from view a song thrush fills the morning air with its song, in the background a airplane tries to compete, but the song thrush wins.
1 for sorrow 2 for joy just flown pass.

Wednesday, 11 March 2020

A nice spring day , quite warm.
The robins are doing well, one came near the patio door and looked in , I think that they are getting used to me , hope so.
Just realised that the pigeons are not about as much as they used to.

Nest and Reading

Robins are now nesting in my garden. They built their nest so just in case next doors cat decide to visit or any other cats, that the cats cannot get to them, but they are safe. I will keep an eye on them the Robins and indeed the cats .
I bought a book about helping wildlife and with out realising it I am helping already, but need to improve. I got already clumps of nettles, trees stumps , unfortunately my trees had to be cut, because they were so old and indeed dangerous.
Not sure about pond at this moment of time I have got a very small garden, but I will think about it. A butterfly bush was an other suggestion but yet again small garden big bush, but it’s worth looking into. An other suggestion was leaving part of the garden to grow wild , which I can do and sow some wild flower seeds . Grow single bloom flowers for bees and forget-me-knots for them as well.  Leaving obviously water and bird food out no problem.
Still got loads to read up, and must start putting things into practice.

Squirrels

Watching the squirrels running through the trees to get to their food larder. Fun watching them. Nice spring day . But had a heavy downpour just the one and it didn’t last long.

Saturday, 7 March 2020

Little did I realize that having the trees cut in the front garden is helping the wildlife. I had to have them cut down due to the fact they were so old and dying . They were conifers. So the tree  stumps will be left to help the insects. And ivy is supposed to be good for wildlife but to keep an eye on it .

Rain and Robin Again

The robin came back and sat on the fence stretching his wings in the rain looked liked he was having a shower. Then he gave a loud call and flew off.
Woke up to a lovely morning no rain at the moment .

Rain and Robin

Yet again an other day of rain, mind you the last couple of days have not been to bad. But today it’s constant rain. Noticed that the robin with the white tips on his /hers wings was sitting under the fence for a while cocking it’s head from side to side and it seemed to be enjoying itself in the rain.
Next doors cat came into the back garden for the first time in ages but she didn’t stay long. Had a scratch on the fence and away she went.
More daffodils popped up, tulips leaves are now coming through.

Spring

Warmer today no rain the wind is not to bad. Saw some early born lambs with their mums  next to the farm house in a field. They were really early. But the farmer really looks after his sheep very well. Still flooding in places the rivers are very slowly returning to normal, but you still get people going so fast on wet and flooded water in the lanes then they wonder how accidents happen.
Primroses adorn the railway embankments so pretty to see, spring is in the air.
