Looking Up

Lovely early summer weather. Butterflies galore. Birds busy as usual. Roses are out. Things are looking up.

Countryside By Train

The deers peered through the fence as the train trundled through . Sheep dotted  about the fields. Crops growing nicely. Fishermen sitting quietly rods dangling fishing nets at the ready. Walkers in the distance walking in the fields. A sheep dog rounding up sheep.

Conkers

Counted 17 trees in the small bit of green near me. So I really don’t live in a concrete jungle. Passed 3 horse chestnut trees fully in bloom. Come autumn there will be plenty of conkers.

Pink Tinge

First sunset for a while. A pink tinge in amongst the grey cloud. Nearby a pigeon decided to do a bit of jay walking in the road.

Weed Killer

Early morning outside in nightie gardening clogs no coat on as it was warm, weather good no wind no rain, spraying weed killer. Didn’t want to but the pesky brambles are coming through from next door, they are insisting it’s my problem but they been dug up and weed killer put on ages ago, traced the bramble to next door garden but he won’t have it, but anyway weed killer put on and leant over his garden and sprayed some on his clump of brambles.

Apart from that a lovely time outside. Will go out early again Tom and do a few quite jobs!

Slug!

The robin and his mate are sheltering from the rain in the honeysuckle bush. Rain thunder and hail. A ginormous slug in the recycling box made me jump, left the box and used an other box but carefully inspected it for slugs.

Still

Still not good weather. But the honeysuckle looking good still. The robin and his mate still visit. The other birds are heard but not seen . Hopefully as we go into June soon the weather will get better.

An Other Robin.

An other robin kept me company for a while I like to think so as I walked passed a hedge, but he was defending his territory.  Very aggressive he  was. Rain and wind grey sky and sun. May is the new April.

Tidying Up

Out in the garden doing some much needed tidying up, dodging the showers now it’s very windy. Unearthing a lot of insects and worms. The robin and his mate are having a fine time catching and eating the insects. But nice to see the resident robin’s mate . Worms galore snails and slugs are hiding . Now covered in insects of all sorts . Saw a ladybird just the one.

Caterpillar

A caterpillar walks ahead of me a brown hairy one then I carefully pass it. The worms snails and slugs are having a wild time in this wet weather at the moment. Every time I want to go and start tackling the garden it rains if it was the fine rain no problem but it’s the heavy soak to the skin rain. But the honeysuckle is doing well. Looking really healthy.

Sweetheart?

The biggest clap of thunder I have heard for a long time, then all of a sudden silence then after that the rain just fell.  A raven carried a leaf all over the roof, maybe a present for his sweetheart? A snail on its journey on the path to where I do nor know.

From A Train Window

1 black lamb amongst the flock of ewes and their lambs. Fishing lake filled to the brim and die hard fishermen out in the rain enjoying themselves. Old dead trees cut but left to house the insects and small animals. Bluebells and a few primroses dotted about the woods. A rather large dark purple butterfly bush against a brick wall standing very tall and proud. Geese searching for food on the river banks .  Going back to the trees , new ones are being planted in the spaces left by the dead and decaying old trees. Fields are all lush and green. Rain coming down so fast it’s blurring out the scenery. All seen from a train window.

Drink

The little birds drink rain water from the honeysuckle flowers ,nature’s drinking vessels. A grey start to the day , but if it turns out like yesterday later a late afternoon of sunshine going into the early evening.

Evening Songs

The evening walk home was accompanied by the birds evening songs. As there was no traffic for a while the song of the blackbird and song thrush came through strongly. Pigeons were cooing in the background , the robin was singing the chorus and other birds sang along. And it was a lovely evening to walk home a quiet sunset added to a rare magical walk home.

Snail

A snail was hiding in the recycling bin , the first snail I have seen this year.  A mixture of sunshine and showers at the moment. Still got fairly high winds. .

Honeysuckle and Web

The honeysuckle is now beginning to blossom. Even though it is being battered by the strong winds.

A dainty spider’s web in the corner of the outside window is blowing gently to and fro ,  as it is in a sheltered space the spider is no where to be seen. But it’s around somewhere. No tasty morsel on the web at the moment.

Majestic

The majestic cloud pretending to be a huge iceberg sailed in the sea of the sky behind were little clouds trying to keep up.  The cat next door was nearly a new species a flying cat! From the fence to the fence opposite it jumped with its legs spread out  looking like a flying cat

Night Time.

A bird having it’s night time bath in the pond, looking as it was having fun. A light spray of rain catches my breath , so unexpected but refreshing at the same time. 2 swans gliding up and the pond ducking their heads every so often in the water for a tasty night time snack.

Spectacular

The huge rain clouds came over quick the rain thundered down so fast. Then after we were rewarded with a spectacular sunset set. No photos or words could describe that sunset. A bonus a rainbow came into view.

The raven said hello again.

Trees

Still windy, but dry cold and the sun is shining. A bumble bee passes going on to pastures new. Notice that other trees have been taken out out and new ones are planted in their place. Good! We need our trees. The beech trees have shed more dead branches in the wind but they are looking good in their green leaves.  Walking down the hill looking at the trees near me the colours of the different trees add beauty to the evening

Vengeance

The wind and rain came with a vengeance. Gale force winds. Rain coming down it hurt as I was walking home from work. Still very windy but no rain yet.

But on a happier note the honeysuckle is in bud and won’t be long before it’s in bloom. At the moment it’s swaying in the wind.

Shimmer

The shimmer of the bluebells in the woods. In the field dotted about were sheep and their lambs doing only what sheep and lambs do.

Sunshine and heavy showers was the order of the day. A chilly start to the month of may.

The chronicles of the raven

Went out to get the recycling box in and the raven flew into the tree nearby with a mouthful of food. Then he flew to his nest. I think I have made a new friend .

Raven Again.

As I walked up the path the raven flew down and walked in the opposite direction, but he was close enough for me to say hello, and he cawed back. A neighbour walked pass and the raven flew away , neighbour gave me a weird look.
