Autumn Or Summer?

The evening was shrouded in a dense mist and the rain made huge puddles more like an autumn evening than a summer evening. The whole of the snail population or so it seemed was out and about on the paths leading to home and for once no snails were trodden on.

Heron

The grass verge between the dual carriageway was smothered in wildflowers the poppies stood out. A heron hiding underneath a bridge in a stream waiting patiently for its next meal .

Camouflage

A cat trying to camouflage itself amongst the honeysuckle but not succeeding at all but looks very happy and contented.

The magpie couple are both bouncing all over the roof opposite and every now and again they pick up some moss from the roof tiles.

An other bright and chilly start to the morning.

No Rain

A thrush banging a snail on the garden path. Snails and slugs galore after the amount of rain we have had . First morning of no rain, bright but chilly and dampness in the air.  Nice to see the sun again.

Rescused

While putting out the recycling I rescued a ladybird/ ladybug from a spider web , put it in a place of safety free from any spiderwebs.

A bit of sunshine at the moment but rain promised again.

Rare Appearances

Two rare appearances a badger and a hare was seen but not at the same time. The hare so quick and fast sped along the field. The badger must of just woken up looked around and sniffed the air then slowly started to walk. Beautiful sights.

Apple Tree

A sparrow hawk decides to rest for a while in the old apple tree. The old apple tree that everyone say cut it down. NO! Is the answer, otherwise if I had it cut down I wouldn’t had the privilege of the sparrow hawk visiting. The closest I seen one  really a stunning looking bird. It stayed about 10 mins then had a drink and flew off.

The old apple tree stays it is home to countless of insects a resting place for the birds and butterflies. And I am a tree lover and it still fruits so it’s staying. And now decide while writing this is to have a small wildflower patch near the apple tree . Perfect!

Broken Promise

The promise of rain never came, even though the sky was heavily laden with very dark rain clouds. Thunderstorms are predicted in the next couple of days or so , have to wait and see if that happens.

Very quiet and still. Apart from a bee buzzing.

Very Calming

A quiet drive in the countryside. Watching tractors being busy. Hedge cutting in some places being done . A rook decides to hop skip and jump across the road.  Driving in between the avenue of trees and seeing the horizon being very low in the near distance very awe inspiring. A soft sunset. Very calming.

Beak Full

A female blackbird pulled up some dead grass and flies away with a beak full . Gone maybe to make a new nest or reline the old one. Weather still very nice.

Chilly

A rather chilly cloudy morning so far. The squirrel is back but just sitting on the fence having a wash. Having to do the annual snail and slug dance walking up the path, so far so good no crunching noise or slippery feeling underfoot.

Evening

The resident robin sings his evening song so crystal clear. The bumble bee what came in to visit has now left. A lovely sunset was had and a promise for a lovely day tomorrow. A squirrel decides to walk along the fence then take a short cut across the lawn.

Mist Watching

Watching the mist rolling in , it comes in thick then thin then it disappears then comes back.

Robins are said to appear when loved ones are near , I am blessed as I have resident robins in the back garden . Just an uplift I need.
