Torrential rain has been the order of the day. But woke up to a sunny morning cool but nice. The ravens having a tug of war over some bread by the looks of things. Parakeets chattering to each other as they do a fly past. Broken branches and twigs . Puddles galore oh to be a child again in red shiny wellies and splash to my heart’s content.
this is a blog about nature in a small town and the surrounding countryside.

Slugs Snails And All That
Huge slugs so big that you can’t miss them and fat! Don’t like them but wouldn’t hurt them. Doing the snail dance so many especially on the garden path. But no worms yet. Rain again but gentle rain at the moment. Honeysuckle has got berries now looking rather cute with raindrops on them .

Caterpillar?
Looking at the small garden shed thinking that’s a big caterpillar on the roof, then the wind blew it and then I realised was a dead brown leaf.

3 Small Creatures
A brown meadow butterfly settles on a nearby thistle. A ladybird/bug, hides amongst the grass blades trying not to get trodden on, and no it was not trodden on, went along it’s merry way. A baby snail on the old broken down washing machine sunbathing in the early morning light , before the sun really hotted up.

Came The Rain
The promised rain came in the night. A bedraggled pigeon sits on the fence looking sorry for itself. A pheasant sits on a low slung wire stretching across the field, looking this way and that way. Seems to be happy

Music
A walk-in a meadow and woods was very up lifting the rain that was promised never came. The rustling of the leaves as the wind moved through them was gentle . Saw peacock butterflies, red admiral butterflies and tortoiseshell butterflies. The different trees and the ivy what covered them was a sight to behold. The trickling of a stream and a gentle waterfall added to the music of nature , birds in the distance adding their song. A glorious day .

Family
The Canadian geese family took a walk around the pond. Parents and five youngsters. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Then they decided to have a run and a flap off wings. Then walked around the pond again.

No Mention Of Weather
The resident robin has appeared after being away for a while, you could and still can hear him sing but not seen him. Haven’t a clue why he hasn’t been around. He has been missed.
The black cat decided to try and catch the squirrel but the squirrel turned round and went for the cat and in doing so startled the cat that the cat fell of the fence. It slunked home and the squirrel went on it’s way.

Delicately
A very late sunset turned the sky into a pink and soft lavender heaven , then the grey rain clouds came bowling in. Rained all night. A single pigeon on the chimney pot cooing away delicately to itself.

Pretty
A pleasant sunny morning for a change. The magpie couple were quite near me so I happened to see their lovely plumage. And with the sun shining on them the colours really stood out. The resident robin is heard but not seen . And everything nearly everything is overgrown with all 5he rain we had. But it looks nice seeing the wildflowers blooming even dare I say it the weeds some of them are actually pretty.
