Autumn has come. That nip in the air is definitely a autumn chilly nip. Nights are drawing in early. The squirrel is now running back and forth now collecting the sweet chestnuts, not so many this year. Next door cat has gone they have moved so the squirrel and birds are having a good time going about their business. The magpies have returned to the chimney pot to start building a nest again . And I am sure I saw a bat fly past
this is a blog about nature in a small town and the surrounding countryside.

Bliss
An other beautiful September day. The evening before was just as beautiful as the sun was sitting. Beautiful shades of mauve purple and red. The soft glow of the moon shining into the bedroom. Sleep by moonlight! Bliss

Quickly
A squirrel carrying a sweet chestnut case in its mouth while running along the fence. The late after sun is so warm and soothing but the evenings now draw in very quickly.

Meal
3 pigeons enjoying their meal of beech nuts. The first of the sweet chestnuts have fallen done looking like a green prickly baby hedgehog. Next door cat looks round her domain then falls asleep on top of the garden shed.

Refreshment
The early morning patter of rain give a refreshment to the muggy weather . Now back to the snail and slug dance again. Even the birds seem happy we have got rain. .

Smell of Autumn
Late afternoon walk in the September sun, brought bracken turning brown slowly. Purple wildflowers which I cannot remember their name thought they were foxgloves but they are not. Most of the field are stubble now. The late sunshine brings a warmth which cheers everything up . The resident robin is heard but not seen , he is in camouflage mode. The smell of autumn is in the air.
