Eerie Morning

A lone pigeon kept me company when waiting for the bus early in the morning , it was an eerie morning grey drab misty. Been told that the white stuff will come. For me it’s a wait and see.

Been and Gone

A grey afternoon but the sheep in the fields brightened up the landscape. The late afternoon is not so dark as just noticed that The shortest day has been and gone.

Morning Walk

A early morning walk in the park . A mist and frost adds to the atmosphere . The water fowl not taking any notice as they were preening themselves. Birds competing with each other in the dawn chorus. So quiet and peaceful.

December

A Blue tit swinging on a branch of the now sleeping honeysuckle having a good look round then notices some orange berries in the next garden. The fox and I look at each other then we go our own separate ways. December is quite mild and rainy so far. But this morning the sun is out sky blue.

Mizzley Day.

A mizzley sort of day wind blowing strongly. Wet leaves everywhere so slip slide as you walk. Even the birds have taken cover don’t blame them. A true November day love it !

Jay and Squirrel

Grey drizzley weather brightened  up by the jay sitting on the fence and the squirrel also on the fence a few yards apart, looking at each other. The nights are drawing in quickly, but it won’t be long and 21th December the shortest day will be here, then the dark nights be getting shorter.

November

Rain mist drizzle grey dull day it’s a proper November day. But Christmas lights are brighting up,the dark early nights.
Dawn chorus in the early morning brighten up the morning.

Moss throwing

Watching a magpie tugging at the moss then throwing it away. The trees are nearly bare , their leaves thickly carpet the ground. So we are properly in November now .

Hailstorm.

The sudden hailstorm came from nowhere the hail stones where bouncing along the ground like tennis balls even though they where a size of a golf ball. More more hail to be had by the look of the clouds

Squirrel, Cat .

Squirrel runs safely across the fence no cat in sight. Written to soon Cat is now on the post looking for squirrel but somehow I think the cat has got a long wait.
Patio door is open for a blast of fresh air the weather is so mild at the moment. But grey clouds are looming promising rain later.

Fine Shower

A fine shower of rain like a garden sprinkler freshened the air, still mild for November. No new interesting birds. I think the cat realised not to chase the squirrel, she just sat and watched the squirrel at a safe distance.

Jay.

The strong high winds are pushing the clouds at such a speed that it looks like a cloud traffic jam !
A very unexpected visitor came to visit a Jay , it sat on the fence for awhile and it was lovely to look at at it . Such beautiful plumage.

Cat, Squirrel & Spider

A cat stalked a squirrel along the fence and nearing a big holly bush the squirrel dived right in, so did the cat . The cat didn’t realise how prickly the holly bush was . Ouch!
A spider spun its web on the washing line , the web is being battered in the high winds and the spider is in the in the centre clinging on as it was a gentle breeze. Such a delicate web but so strong.

Mild November.

A very mild November warm enough to wear a body warmer. A magpie strutting his stuff on the roof trying to attract his mate , maybe they had a falling out .

Magical.

The roads and pavements are deep in puddles due to the extra heavy downpours.
A bird of prey sits on the bollard for a few minutes just sitting having a good look around then he hears me crunching on the last of the beech nuts and flies off. He does a fly past over my head. Magical.

Frost.

A good old fashioned hard frost greeted the morning.  Frost swirls decorated the cars windows. Also it highlighted the red berries of the holly bush.

Autumn Slowly Going

Watching parakeets flying overhead looked liked they was square dancing in the sky. Autumn is slowly coming to an end , grey skies and rain today.
A baby snail hid itself under the wheelie bin lid  maybe it’s ready for its winter sleep. Haven’t seen a lot of slugs and snails this year maybe they went elsewhere for their summer holiday.

Swans

Parent swans ready to take off after the teenage swans are airborne. A few red Virginia creeper leaves decorate the back door the white of the door highlighting the red leaves . The nettles are standing proudly, but alas the butterflies are gone.

All Good

The beech tree and sweet chestnut tree have dropped their nuts for the last time this year, now for their leaves to drop.
The Virginia creeper done well this year beautiful it was all red and a bit of green orange and yellow. A gaggle of geese just flew by honking like mad. And the cygnets are now what I call teenagers .

Abroad , Home.

Dark grey rain clouds, rain sun a double rainbow then rain stops and the wet dries up quick. A week away abroad. Come home to beautiful autumn weather. A beautiful sunset across the downs with a mist rolling over gently for what is promised a beautiful day tomorrow . The weather didn’t spoil the holiday it added to it in a strange way and oh watching a thunderstorm on a balcony bliss.

Howling & Squawking

Wind and rain howling down the chimney proves that winter is on its way. A magpie flew away at the last minute as we approached in the car squawking away madly, it was eating road kill at the time.

Deer Again

Apparently a small herd of deer have moved in see up above post. And the locals are keeping a close eye on them so they don’t come to any harm. Some people think of them as a pest but the locals are happy to have them.
A lovely sunny autumn day with a clear blue sky. And the squirrels are still being busy collecting nuts for their winter store.

Deer

A deer was spotted in a friend’s garden in the early hours, at first they thought they was seeing things.  The thing is they live near a very very bypass. They are going to find help to get the deer in to safer pastures.

Drab Morning.

A magpie and it’s mate preening each other on the roof then one flies off then after a few seconds the other one also flies off. A pigeon was watching from the chimney.
A grey dank morning the only colour apart from green is the red/orange from the Virginia creeper around the patio door. Not forgetting the colour brown in with the grey = drab morning.

Mist

As evening draws in a mist descends adding an eerie feeling to the sunset. A squirrel does a sort of a jig while holding his acorns

Nuts

Squirrels are collecting nuts for their winter stock. The beech tree has shed nearly all its nut and the sweet chestnut tree is beginning to drop the sweet chestnuts still incased in their prickly green cases. The sweet chestnut has done well after that really hot weather .

Leaves & Fungi

The leaves are changing colours now so beautiful. A massive some sort of fungi on a tree trunk as we by in the car, so will walk to have a proper look at it soon, not far from me.

Autumn Is Nearly Here

Ducks waddling in the rain quacking as they pass . Three patches  of fungi in the front lawn brown in colour but fascinating just looking at them nature at times is beautiful. Chilly in the morning and evening ow autumn is truly on it’s way now.

Parakeets & Wind.

Parakeets over in the beech tree, someone calls them over grown budgies! Windy very windy but a warm wind.

Growing.

The Virginia creeper is growing well and it won’t be long till it changes colour. A lovely pre-autumn afternoon but very windy.

Falling, Swallow &Parakeet

A falling beech nut hits me on my head as I walk under the beech tree. A wasp flew straight at my mouth and if I had not closed it quick I would of swallowed it. The parakeets fly overhead and a little one was at the back trying to keep up with the others and a couple of the others held back to wait for it.

3 Fields.

A horse and it’s rider galloping across a field. Then a herd of deer in an other field. Two pigs wandering around their field looking very happy.

Pre-Autumn.

A lovely pre autumn day, soft warm sunshine and a soft breeze. A beautiful fox basks in the sunshine in a front garden then runs off when someone walks by.

Squirrel & Magpie

A squirrel foraging among the acorns most probably sorting his or her hoard for when the bad weather comes. What looks like a magpie tail feather catches my eye such beautiful colours first time I have seen one close up.

Rat & Fox

One large rat in the road while driving down a country lane at nighttime first time ever to see that, did put the wind in me. Then a fox a few yards down decides to run across the road, we managed not to hit it.

Wren

A beautiful wren flitting about in amongst the honeysuckle such a lovely bird . It was being very inquisitive. Getting chilly in the evenings now, autumn is on its way.

Enjoyable

Rain,seagulls, herring gulls, windswept,a chink of sunshine equals a summer bank holiday. Strangely enough it was very enjoyable.

Geese & Parakeets.

Grey overcast morning,broken up by a skein of geese honking away to each other. Then parakeets fly to where they spend their day chattering away to each other.

Overcast

Overcast and a windy morning. The intense heat has seem to have gone. The Virginia creeper decides to grow along the patio door and to poke itself indoors. Rather pretty actually.

Proper Rainy Day

A proper rainy day yay! A walk in the rain absolutely lovely. Watched as some sparrows bathed in the puddles chirruping away happily. Some pigeons on the rooftop are enjoying this rain by just sitting there and cooing .

Nicer

A much nicer fresher cooler day. A magpie or two in the beech tree cawing away. The beech tree is dropping it’s nuts still excuse the pun! All in all a lovely day.

Crash Land

Big fat raindrops came down for a couple of minutes twice in the afternoon. Now as the evening is drawing in its beginning to rain properly.
A pigeon crashed landed into the apple tree, it shook itself as to say I hope no one was looking !

No No &Again No

Hot and still no breeze or wind yet. No birds no insects no clouds. The only things that are moving are the planes . No noise. Washing hanging on the line just still no movements

Happier

2 cabbage white butterflies gracefully dance together in the midday sun. The beech tree and other trees have perked up with the rain we had. And also all the flowers , shrubs etc look a lot happier.

Spider Spins.

The evening is quite cool now and the lonely pigeon coos to his hearts content. Small spiders are spinning away madly . One sorts of spins on to me .

Seagulls And Pillows

By the looks of things the local pond has got it own resident seagulls now. The rest of the waterfowl just glide past them .
The hot weather is on its way back but so glad we had that rain and coolness for a few days.
The pigeon looked at the pillows on the line and if he could of scratched his head he would of done, I wonder what he was thinking.

Raindrops

A thunderstorm greeted the dawn and the rain fell so heavily it really lashed against the windows. The cobwebs are glittering with raindrops just like diamonds.

Chaffinch , Swifts & Horses.

A chaffinch family flew under the shelter to say hello while sheltering from the rain. Mum and dad are very proud of their little ones. Some swifts were gliding the sky catching their prey with an elegant ease. Two horses standing under the trees watching the rain.

After The Thunderstorm

After the thunderstorm the air is so much fresher a lovely cool fresh breeze. The sweet smell of the wet earth the trees and plants looking good. The birds singing .

Yes We Got Rain!

We have had a thunderstorm and rain ! Very happy . Hopefully the plants and trees are enjoying the rain.
Ps we are having round 2 of rain and thunder!

Piped In

As dawn breaks it’s piped in by a lone bird singing mournfully accompanied by the faint rustle of the leaves of the beech tree in the breeze.

Rain Please

Thought next doors cat was beginning to make friends with mine
but it had a nasty fight with one of mine . And that’s after itwalked in and sniffed round, I made her welcomed. Cats!
Cloudy humid slight breeze , watching the butterflies even they look hot and it’s an effort for them.
RAIN PLEASE!

Clever Cat.

One of the cats sits by the front door , coolest place in the house. The draught excluder has fallen off so a cooling draught flows through the bottom of the door. I might go and join him. And the hall is in the shade.

Hot Humid

A very hot humid day, breeze is helping a bit . Very cloudy even the cats won’t go out. The birds are not around so quiet.

A Few

Load of ducks, 4 deer , plenty of pheasants , 2 hares, a herd of bullocks , a horse in a field with a flock of sheep and 2 pigs in a field of their own running around all seen from a steam train. And a very rare sight a few raindrops on the window, it was a case of now you see it now you don’t..

Starling Family

Starling parents on top of the roof watching their fledglings walk up to them and then one of the parents fly of and the other parent giving encouragement to the fledglings to fly of. And so they did one by one and then the parent who gave encouragement flew of as well. Then a parent flew on to the aerial and the fledglings followed one by one. And the other parent came back. So the starling family are now on the aerial preening themselves and what a privilege to watch them in their flying lesson. All done well.

Not Autumn

The trees are losing their leaves in this hot weather, apart from them still being green it’s more like autumn with the leaves on the ground. They don’t make the scrunching sound as the autumn leaves as you walk through them . Really sad. Hopefully rain will be with us soon.

Deer And Poppies.

A herd of deer run through the cornfield to the trees ahead to give them some shade from this heat. Poppies sway in time with the corn in the gentle breeze. They look like that they are dancing together.

Traffic?

A dawn chorus is beautiful to hear for some but for others they prefer to hear traffic! I know which I prefer.
The trees and plants are now drooping quite badly now , need rain badly.

Heaven ?

A really chilly morning turned into a really hot afternoon. A neighbour butterfly bush is over hanging the garden onto the path and loads of butterflies and bees are going about their business nice to see. Wonder if that would be classed as butterfly and bee heaven?

Just Right.

It’s been overcast and quite chilly in the morning these past couple of days, a pleasant change from the intense heat we been having and the afternoons have been just right not to hot.
The honeysuckle is in its second bloom not sure why but much appreciated.

Holiday?

Very overcast very windy very humid. The overhead plane is all you can hear from the skies no birdsong. Have the birds gone on holiday even the resident robin is quiet.

Birds And Bugs

A hooded crow with her youngster following her cawing like mad beak open wide waiting for it to be filled. Moths and night bugs are out in force not bitten yet but will be soon.

Still Holding

Still holding my breath about the so said thunderstorms. The parakeets fly overhead chattering to each other. The red admiral butterfly sits on the hosepipe for a rest.

Own Dawn Chorus.

Flying ants are everywhere at the moment , it’s hot and humid.  Had about 3 minutes worth of rain that’s all that was yesterday, but for today thunderstorms , I hold my breath.
Daughter and family have got 3 canaries and now have their very own dawn chorus.  

Could? Mower

It could rain today they say, it could? Grey clouds are floating across but really don’t look like rain clouds , only clouds that need a good wash.
Hum of a electric  lawn mower in the background, I miss the sound of the push along mower it was hard word but a nicer sound.

Droop.

Been told that this hot weather is going on for an other two weeks. The beech nuts are beginning to drop . The shrubs and flowers etc are beginning to droop due to the heat. Hosepipe nan is enforced now.
A happier note a butterfly came indoors and rested on the lampshade for a while as indoors is cooler.

A Walk In The Woods.

A walk in the woods with just the sound of the birds singing but a slight hum of the traffic way in the distant.
It was nice to hug a tree without being self conscious.
A squirrel startled me as it jumped from the tree to the ground then scampered ahead .
A caterpillar came over to say hello when I rested, love the way caterpillars walk.

Bee, Thunderstorms?

A bumble bee flies past in the cooling late evening finding a place to rest. Promises of thunderstorms over the weekend much need especially the rain.

Flies Beautiful?

The clouds give a welcome relief from the hot weather still hot but not as hot as it been lately. More shade for the birds and other insects.
A fly decides to land on me , to be honest even though they are nuisances they are beautiful to look at, this one had a shimmering green body. It’s wings so delicate but strong.

Buzzing

The hot weather is continuing, the lawn is now cracking up quite badly. Saw a pigeon very early this morning first I have seen for a while since this hot weather.
But the flies keeping buzzing around making a nuisance of themselves.

For How Long

The resident robin sits on the fence by the honeysuckle singing his heart out in the cool of the evening.
The cats and next door cat seek the shade of the hedge, for once they are all friends now but for how long?

Crack & Brown

It has been very hot these past few days, longest we have been without rain which is a few weeks now. The ground is beginning to crack now . The grass is beginning to go brown.
Even at this early hour no birds are about they are sitting in the shade of the trees even though it’s quite cool . Can hear them but not see them.

Starling, Heron

A heron flew overhead wondering about where it was roosting. A busy day in the garden but not my garden, so many insects about but for once I wasn’t bitten.  Starlings made an appearance on the roof tops. Quite a few at that, love their plumage.

Clover Crows

A meadow brown butterfly settles amongst the patch of clover , resting awhile, while the tall elegant silver birch looks on.
The hooded crows are flying about their business cawing away to each other.

Colour In A Dull Place

Pink blowsy hydrangeas the mob cap variety makes a beautiful contrast against the dark brickwork injects some colour in a rather dull road mainly driveways now, where there was gardens there are now driveways.
It seems that the birds have gone into hiding and the insects have taken over for now.

Spectacular,Music

Looked liked we was going to have a downpour the sky was so grey then all of a sudden the sun came out and a spectacular sunset came about.
The wind was rustling through the leaves playing it’s own kind of music, a squirrel ran across the road straight up the tree trunk, then sat on a branch like it was listening to nature’s music.

Jobs Done.

I done the jobs in the garden and very pleasant it was just me and the outdoors and next doors cat. She sat a few yards away from me making little cat noises, hopefully we can be friends.
Filled up the garden waste bin. Had to prune the Virginia creeper as it was getting out of hand, but it looks good. Next job to do is to trim the honeysuckle bush. Left enough stinging nettles but had to cut some down due to the fact they were really straggley.

Gardening In The Morning.

The early summer morning is calling me out to mow the grass and do some pruning. Just perfect weather to do some gardening not to hot or cold. Lots to do but I won’t be in a hurry it’s a take your time day.

My Sort Of Day

My sort of day sunshine a beautiful soft breeze . Everything in the garden apart from the grass are lovely. The grass needs cutting again I only did it late last week and from nowhere it’s grown again. But it’s not my job of the day today the washing is out and drying nicely.
The honeysuckle is still in bloom longest it has been in bloom, not sure what I am doing right.

My Robin.

The resident robin made an appearance when I filled the garden waste bin . First time I have seen him  for a while. I have heard him but not seen him, still a bad tempered soul but my bad tempered soul. He is only protecting his family and home.
Honeysuckle is doing well , so is the Virginia creeper both are looking good.

Butterfly & Pigeons

A red admiral butterfly flew indoors not once or twice but three times. Sorry butterflies but your nettle patch needed to be cut down a bit as it was getting straggly but it’s growing well new growth is coming along well.
Pigeons cooing to,their hearts content in the beech tree were it’s nice and cool.

Wild Garden.

While cutting the front lawn noticed an other ants hill. I shall leave it alone, as last year I had an other ant hill and no ants came in. The ant hill is on the side of the front garden where I left it for the insects etc to go to.
As you can gather I am not a neat and trim gardener I love nature and love to see all sorts in my garden. And also I have got clumps of nettles and a wild part of the back garden for the insects, butterflies and co.

English weather.

Grass needs cutting again where it sprang from I don’t know!
Cloudy overcast grey a fine spit of rain in the air cold windy, then warm sunny breezy blue sky with a few clouds.

Bats & Rabbits.

Had a weird dream dreamt about bats in the attic! I have only seen bats once in the early dusk near where I live.
Rabbits along the road feeding just sitting there looking at the cars going pass. Wish they would move back a bit.

Orange Not Pink

Friend planted some vegetables, birds? Pulled them up he thinks. But his rhododendron is in full bloom absolutely stunning and a peachy orange shade at that. But in photos it looks pink!

Feeding or Building?

Watching some birds either feeding their young or building a nest in a chimney. No sign of the said thunderstorms and rain , but a grey morning though.

Lovely Cat.

Since the garden been done it has rained till today, so after being out all day I need to get out and do some small jobs, the niggly jobs the ones you keep putting off. Like weeding! Little but often is my motto just for me.
Had thunderstorms again yesterday had to go out in it to go to work. More apparently is on the way.
My outdoor cat is finally claimed the garden from next doors cat the great pretender , my outdoor cat just sat wouldn’t budge and the great pretender just slunked off. I wish she would be friends with my 3. Other neighbours say that she like that with their cats, just wants to be queen over the neighbourhood cats.  Actually you get her on her own she is a lovely cat.
So quiet no birdsong no birds to been seen maybe they are taking shelter before the rain comes again .

Adventure Went Well

Adventure in the garden went well , grass and bushes cut front and back lawn done, looking like a garden again. Need to get rid of an elderberry bush it’s a nuisance where it is apart from that nothing major needs to be done.
Spoke to soon about thunderstorms, had a bad thunderstorm last night and the rain just lashed down. And more thunderstorms are supposed to be on their way.

Murky Start.

A murky start to the day has turned into a lovely afternoon . The birds the bees the butterflies and all sort of insects are going about their own sweet way.
The downside for me I shall get bitten badly like I usually do at this time of the year, but it is nearly summer.

A Small Thunderstorm.

A couple  of flashes of lightning,a couple of rumbles of thunder, rain came down so hard and fast all this in ten minutes. Waking up to a damp sweet smelling morning.

Fog & Frogs.

Woke up to thick fog in the early hours, promises to be a lovely day. Small frogs in friend’s pond are doing well. Not heard them croak yet.

An. Adventure We Shall Go.

Out into the garden I shall go, my trusty strimmer and I will go on an adventure to cut the grass, but if I bought the right strimmer wire!
But no ants nest this time they have now left and gone on to pastures new.

Blue

Its unusual to see a blue butterfly in my neck of the woods but one flew by. Weather prophets said we shalll have rain , but we haven’t yet .

A Snail Slid.

A snail slid down the patio door fell in an empty flower pot then moved so quickly to get in from the sun . Honeysuckle is now out.

Walked

The magpie walked up the steps , along the path then decides to fly. A beautiful spring day and the insects are busy . A spider is busy spinning its web near the clump of nettles, hoping for lunch soon?

2nd May

Back to rain winds and cloudy skies! And it’s chilly!
The blossom is still clinging on despite the winds and it won’t be long and the honeysuckle will be out.

1st May

A beautiful sunset a pinky soft orangey sky. Then after all that rain a cold but sunny May morning. The little snail has moved on slow but sure. The clump of nettles has grown huge so out there to cut it down a bit. It’s for any visiting butterflies.
So hopefully May will be a lovely month it has started with good weather.

Apple Blossom Time

It’s apple blossom time. The apple tree which is an old Kentish one has loads of blossom on looking rather pretty. And the honeysuckle is getting ready to bloom. Blue tits are darting/in and out of the honeysuckle. Still not had the heavy rain yet, but I am sure it will come.  Everything is lush and green

Tiny Snail.

One very tiny snail looking in from the patio door so tiny.  A months rain is expected soon in this neck of the woods . The nettles are growing well!

Fight

Just witnessed a nasty fight between two pigeons and boy was it nasty it was on the roof opposite me, now the victor is strutting along the roof , hope the other pigeon is ok.
Good drying weather out there for towels.

Changable

Changeable weather again a few sharp showers a lot cooler windy again.
The blossom is looking good . Saw bluebells at the weekend they were looking good.

Hares

So excited I saw not one but two hares in their natural habitat. Never ever seen hares in the wild before so privileged to see them. They are so beautiful. So humble I felt seeing them. So elegant.

Mini Heatwave

Mini heat wave at the moment. Blossom is on the trees and bushes. Cats reclaimed the garden from next doors cat.Talking to a friend , she said that pigeons have nested behind her next door neighbours solar pads on the roof and they are not doing anything a bout it.

Very Quiet.

Change of scenery, sitting in a friend’s kitchen waiting for a heating engineer, as friend is on holiday. Looking outside even though they live in a semi rural place it’s very quite very quiet nature wise. Not even seen a hooded crow and there is usually plenty around. Ah but plenty of slugs on the garden path but not snails.
PS. As soon as I posted this snippet a pigeon flew into the monkey puzzle tree . Then an ant came to say hello to me when I was in there, so no it’s not quiet!

Mouse.

While waiting for traffic to clear at a narrow part of a road a mouse pop it’s head out of his or hers hideyhole in the bridge wall it had a good sniff and look round then popped back into its hideyhole.
The early slugs are beginning to come out from wherever they hid in the winter. Not seen any snails yet.

Honeysuckle & Birds

Not sure what the interest of my honeysuckle to the birds, but it had a lot of visitors. A few sparrows came to visit it, then which was a very rare sight to see the female robin came to visit, she darted in and out very quickly and then also what is a very extremely rare sight a wren I could not believe my eyes a wren . Then later on a great tit came along then as the evening came a couple of blue tits came to visit the honeysuckle. And a blackbird sat in the apple tree for quite sometime watching. It was a lovely afternoon watching all these birds.

Frog Spawn.

I forgot to mention that a friend’s pool had some frog spawn in it. My old next door neighbours also had a little pond and that used to have frog spawn as well, I think the new neighbours blocked it up.
Hope the frog spawn in my friends garden will hatch.

April

April is living up to it’s name April showers . Lovely couple of days spring sunny weather then the showers come.
Birds are busy building nest or taking tokens to their sweethearts.
Tulips in the garden will be flowering shortly and that will be very cheerful.

Change.

A change of scenery. The sky is blue a few clouds floating above and the sun is warm. In the distance the sea is twinkling like diamonds too many to number. The wind is brisk but enjoyable.

Quiet

Bumped into a friend who is a real garden enthusiast, she hoping to get into the garden soon as we had so much rain she unable to get out, I admitted to her I am itching to get out there myself, and I surprised myself ! By saying that.
Soon the bluebells will be out and no blossom as yet.
All is quiet here.

Woodpeckers & Hooded Crows

Watching and hearing a woodpecker tapping into the tree. Also watching hooded crows going about their business and a pair are making a nest in a disused chimney. Rain again.

Moon.

Had to get up in the small hours,looked outside and saw the moon so low that I thought if I stretched out my arm I could touch it.

Waterproofs

Rain yesterday at the moment no rain this morning. The cats are enjoying being out in the morning they sit and have a good sniff of the air. Honeysuckle bush is not going to be good this year I don’t think. Itching to get out in the garden to start tiding it up but more rain is due, mind you I can put on my waterproofs on I might just do that.

Foxes & Owls

Walking home I saw two foxes one on the same side of the road and the other one on the other side of the road. Both were eyeing each other up, but then a car passed and they ran off .
Heard an owl but did not see it . Even in the built up area where I live there is still wildlife. I know there are badgers nearby as well.

Soon it be blossom time

Sitting waiting for the bus under a bus shelter and noticing that the trees are in bud, hopefully it won’t be long and the blossom will be out.  The rain was quite quiet as it fell and now the sun has made an appearance but more rain clouds are looming.

Magpies

Rain it did, but the nice soft rain. One for sorrow two for joy. That right magpies, I know that a lot of people don’t like them , but I have no problem with them. Love their colour plumage. They usually sit on the roof having a domestic.

Forsythia

Googled the yellow,shrub it’s forsythia. As soon as I saw the name it hit me! One mystery solved. A beautiful spring morning warm enough not to be bundled up with scarfs hats and gloves.
But looks like rain again.

2 Robins.

The robin was singing his heart out in the front garden, seems a long time that I heard him. A baby robin was on the path, but I left it there but kept an eye on it, then all of a sudden it flew up to the tree and landed on a branch.
Just thought maybe daddy robin was encouraging baby robin.

Google it!

Noticed ravens have built a nest in the big beech tree.
Still cannot remember the name of the yellow bush, must google it.
The sun on the windows is heating up the living room a treat.

Cannot Remember

My yellow bush by the front door is beginning to come bud and for the life of me I cannot remember what it is called, the name shall return when I am not thinking about it, it’s yellow.
The tulips have begun to push through by the looks of things they are going to put on a good show. And after they and the daffodils flowered it be mowing the lawn time again. A lovely spring morning out there. A Fox came to visit beautiful creature.

Saw Again

The snow has gone . Warm sunshine now. Saw the kestrel again a beautiful bird.

Hopefully.

The snow is thawing quickly . The wind is still bitter . It’s not long to April now hopefully warmer weather will come to. The bird’s nest which is in the tv aerial is still going strong despite this snow and high winds.

Brave.

Heavy snow but not as bad as it could be.
Noticed some new fox holes in the banks, hope the foxes are warm and snug.
The spring flowers are battered with the snow and wind, but they are bravely hitting back a bit of colour in a white world.

Snow Swans and Duck

Driving through snow what is drifting off the fields. Swans in the fields looking for something to eat and a partridge too.
The canal looks like it going to break its bank and a solitary duck swims along it without a care in his world.

Flowers

Woke up yesterday to a beautiful morning, woke up this morning to a grey dismal morning.
The daffodils are blooming in the garden. Went pass the beech tree and noticed some yellow and white crocuses around it. Little violet flowers are beginning to poke through as well.

Pearls

Door opened listening to the rain and watching the overflowing water butt. Raindrops on the washing line are like a string of pearls. The blackbird popped out and took a drink from the water butt. He sat there for a while and in the distant the cooing of the collard doves can be heard they must be dry and snug.

Tits in the Garden

My back garden seems to be a haven for the tit families. Seen blue tits and great tits and an other variety I haven’t seen! I must get out my bird book.
The collared doves are coming to each other in the gentle rain, really very soothing.

Birds

Watching two cheeky blue tits flying in and out of the honeysuckle, then was joined by a great tit. Such beautiful colours and markings. The blackbird pops along the fence to join the fun.

Quiet.

My daffodils are beginning to bloom I noticed when I put the rubbish out.
Watching the magpies going about their business and the starlings too.
Apart from that very quiet out there . Just thought it won’t be long till the snail and slug hotel be opened. And I wonder if the ants will come back?

Its a Kestrel.

Found out that the bird of prey I recently saw was a kestrel. Not seen it since but others have sighted it.
After the snow the rain! The ground is so soggy, it’s rather boggy! Excuse the pun!

Eerie

The moon reflecting on the snow gave an eerie glow. Woke up to fog and the snow thawing slightly. Rain suppose to be coming in later.

Strange

No extra snow overnight but very windy though and cold.
A bird was sitting on a branch for a long time , it wasn’t till I looked closer I realised it was a dead leaf! Yes I did have my glasses on and this is the second time this has happened to me.
Next doors cat loves being out in this weather strange cat, next door really looks after her cats well as the other one stays in .

Rook.

Watching the rook skiing down the snowy roof , he got to the bottom and then he flew up again and did it again this was going on for about 5 mind.
Still snowing but found my snow boots so out I shall venture.

More Snow

The dark blue velvety sky at twilight highlighted the snow making it dazzling. More snow came overnight adding an other layer. Apart from one starling on the edge of the roof no other birds to be seen.

Crunch.

Snow showers are here and they are not to bad. The roads are clear but not the pavements ! But they are walkable and it’s nice to hear the crunch underfoot.

Still Standing

Crunchy underfoot, not a lot of snow but enough. The snow highlighting the trees and everything around very pretty. The daffodils in the garden are still standing tall and proud.

Repeat

* snow sunshine sleet* repeat from * to * until the end of the day , then cold , ice for the night.

A Sunday Afternoon.

The frost highlighted the brown of the churned up earth in the fields. A bird flew past with some goodies in its beak, not sure if it was nesting material or food. Primroses dotted along the banks near a stream which was was so still and silent.  Deers in the distant running to find cover, then came to a second second herd of deer sitting in the sunshine and grazing quite happily. The sun so low and bright a chilly wind , but a gorgeous day to be out and about.

Woke up to a apricot sunrise and birds squabbling on the roof, wonder if it was the magpies?

Really Cold.

The roads were gritted last night as we were told it was going to snow be icy etc but woke up to a frost and snow free morning , but it’s really really cold.

Sunglasses

A very bright but cold day, the sun was so bright you had to wear sunglasses! The weather prophets are saying snow is on the way heard it all before one minute it’s only going to a sprinkling then the next minute a blizzard.
A bright and frosty night no need for sunglasses , but the stars are twinkling so bright you may want to wear sunglasses!

Sprang

The local pond was teeming with wild life, ducks moorhens seagulls geese and swans. A clump of daffodils suddenly sprang up in the back lawn .

Moon.

Looking at the moon so perfect in its crescent shape giving a soft glow to a dark rainy night .

Treasures.

Went away for the weekend . Saw a heron poised ready to get a fish. Loads of pregnant sheep. Walked along the coastline in brilliant sunshine lovely and warm the sea was just gentle waves and the seagulls were as happy as sand boys. Children with their buckets looking in the rock pools trying to find treasures

Bin Day

Cleaning up the front garden after bin day, I seem to get all the leftover rubbish, a thrush sat on the fence waiting for me to finish so it could have a good look in the garden for any grubs bugs worms that I disturbed, saved him a job!

A Chat With A Robin

The robin looked at me I looked at the robin, with his head on one side he chirruped so I said good morning how are you? He replied with an other chirrup and I guessed he said he was very well. His beautiful little beady eyes were darting to and fro as to say I must be going I got lots to do. So I said bye nice having a chat with you . With that he flew off.

Welcomed.

Light mauve crocuses, brightly coloured polyanthas in many colours adorned the gardens as I walked by, bringing a much welcomed splash of colour to the grey and dismal day.

A short sharp snow shower a matter of a minute or two, makes it extra special at the coast totally different. Then hailstones then blue skies and sunshine . Yes I writing about the weather again ! Boring !

Crab and Seagulls.

Watching a crab in a rock pool just marvelling at the way it uses it claws as it climbs from rock to rock. Overhead the seagulls ride the thermals so effortlessly. Beautiful day to be out.

Green Velvet.

The daffodils are coming through the front lawn , hopefully they will give a good show. Notice the big beech tree has got a couple of nests in the branches but think they are last years one. Lichen is growing steadily on its trunk, green velvet

Competition

The magical song of the song thrush at daybreak,in the background the rumble of the traffic as it goes  in competition. The song thrush wins !

Old

Ssh! A quick mention of you know what ! Good drying of you know what!
A blackbird couple have made a nest in the hedge near the apple tree. Blue tits in the apple tree , blackbirds in the hedge , robins in the conifer tree, I am a happy bunny, but need to be on cat patrol not my cats they prefer to stay in and I work out how old they are 20 ! All 3 are still lovely as ever .

No Mention

No mention of the weather or the state of the sky etc. But it was a good drying day for the towels!
The local pond has been filled up now due to work done on it. It’s now got the swans back the Canadian geese back and the ducks back, really happy a lovely sight. And the bridge over it has been mended it is wooden and it rotted away and the replacement is wooden again and hopefully it will last for a very long time.

What a difference a few hours make in an day with the weather, blue skies coming between the clouds a watery yellow sunshine but dry and still cold.
But enough about the weather it’s getting boring now!

Cold.

Leaden dark grey clouds, whirling big fat snowflakes which aren’t laying cold as I don’t know what . The cat that doesn’t usually sit on my lap is sitting on it! Don’t know why not complaining.

Whatever the weather wants!

More rain, ice ,sleet, and whatever the weather wants to send down, but hey this is Great Britain !

Catch me if you can

The blackbird on the fence is playing catch me if you can with next doors cat and as soon as the cat gets close the blackbird flies of laughing.
The clouds are having a race with each other they are going so fast.

Crisis Crossing

Woke up to pink clouds blue skies, airplanes with their vapour trails making a criss crossing pattern in the sky.
Honeysuckle is beginning to come into leaf .

So Awesome

Seeing an owl flying overhead looking for its prey, so silent ,so awesome, so privileged.

Spring is coming

Just noticed the snowdrops . The crocuses are being to show . Won’t be long and the daffodils and tulips will be out . Spring is coming .

Cold wet windy

Watching the rain going into the water butt, gurgling  away. Cold wet and windy but a joy to be out in it.

Sleet.

Watching the sleet come down at twilight causing huge puddles in turn they run into each other’s causing to become rivers.
Mentioned the bird of prey? Bird to a friend and they said that they saw a bird hovering  over the field near were she lives which isn’t far from me, so she keeping her binoculars handy and hopes to see it again.

Bird of Prey?

Saw a new bird sitting in the apple tree . At first I thought it was a pigeon but a slightly closer look no it wasn’t. It was not a black bird or crow or raven. It looked liked a smallish bird of prey but in my neck of the woods we don’t seem to have these sort of birds here. I didn’t want to move as I would of scared it off. Now that’s a mystery that needs to be solved.
The blue tits are nesting in the apple tree it’s quite secluded so they should be safe.

Winter Morning

Still an icy high wind but a beautiful blue sky and the Sun is out , a wonderful winters morning.
The huge beech tree is surrounded by a ring of toadstools. Snowdrops are beginning to show in the garden whether they are late or early it doesn’t matter lovely to see.

Parakeets

A sight and a sound I hadn’t heard or seen for aw while a flock of parakeets flew over chattering away in the late afternoon sun going home to roost.
Icy winds cut through chill factor getting low real low.

Wind rain grey skies even the birds are hiding in the bushes and trees or wherever they can find shelter. Two seagulls circle over head. The sun tries to pop out behind a rain cloud.

Scouting

The blue tits are scouting for a new home they keep on looking at the apple tree, which is in the quiet part of the garden a good choice.
The weather was a lovely crispy sunny winters day yesterday and today grey dull and overcast , no two days the same

Song Thrush

Grey skies then the rain came so quick it was over in seconds now blue skies sun out. Still windy but not as bad as yesterday.
A song thrush sings to its hearts content while sitting on the fence such a wonderful song and sound. Takes my breath away

Windy Day

We got the tail end of hurricane Eleanor in this neck of the woods so a very windy day but at the moment no rain, but quite a blue sky and some clouds.
Resident robin was guarding his patch last night about 8pm singing at the top of his voice.

Cat and Wind

Opened patio door to let the fresh air in and next doors cat decided to pick a fight with my cat with the eyesight problem, bet it wished it didn’t my cat gave as good as it got and more , the other cat run off.
Don’t get me wrong any cat is welcomed in my garden no problem and most of the cats round here are lovely cats, but this cat picks a fight with all of them how their other cat gets on with this one , I don’t know. Their other cat is lovely.
Rant over!
Grey morning not much of a sunrise but thankfully no wind we have had a lot of high wind in my neck of the woods.

2018

My cats are getting old now they are 15 years now. My male cat is losing his sight but he is still happy and eating well. The other 2 are fine .
Heard the resident robin before I saw him , he popped round into the back garden saw next doors cat and gave it a scolding before it flew off.
Wet and windy for most of December. Wet and windy for the start of the new year.
