Phantom Butterfly

A hard frost greets the morning . Twinkling in the moonshine . The paths and roads are like ice staking rinks.

Sure I saw a white butterfly fly pass, but there again who knows , definitely not a leaf, must be seeking things. A phantom butterfly?

Wednesday, 30 December 2020

Candy Floss

A long pink cloud looking like unfurled candy floss adorns the early morning sky. Which promises to be a nice but cold winter’s day. No white stuff yet but it’s been promised.

Tuesday, 29 December 2020

Family

The robin family and the blue tit family have created an alliance, they seem to like each other as we know robins are very territorial. Nice to see.

A Fox runs straight out in front of me it stopped look at me then carried on. Wondered what it was thinking .

Monday, 28 December 2020

Promise.

A promise of snow, but at the moment it is very wet out there no rain but a watery sun.

The resident robin prefers the third fence post he sits there for a while quite often . The post is now known as Robin’s post!

Sunday, 27 December 2020

Vibrate

The rain lashed down so hard it made the windows vibrate. A lone gull sitting on the tv aerial is ether being brave , really likes the storm or just silly. I take it , it likes the storm.

Saturday, 26 December 2020

Quiet

A dull wet cold xmas and windy as well. The resident robin popped out to say hello. Apart from that so quiet.

Thursday, 24 December 2020

Crisscross

The snail leaving its silvery trail behind as it criss crosses the window trying to find somewhere to over winter,

The seagulls ride the thermals high above in the winter blue sky and they are silent for a change

Tuesday, 22 December 2020

Squawk

The seagull on top of a mobile mast squawking its heart out saying I prefer the old fashioned way of communication. Boy was he/she loud!

Sunday, 20 December 2020

Startle

The honking of the geese as they fly by , startle the magpies on the roofs and they fly off.

A nice sunny but cold winter day and seagulls circling above.

Saturday, 19 December 2020

Magical Sounds

The early morning song of the robin fills the bathroom with the patter of the rain magical sounds .

The large black clouds scurries over so quick they drop a few rain drops then they are gone

Thursday, 17 December 2020

Wren , Pigeon

Being serenaded by the cooing of a pigeon, whilst a wren investigates the honeysuckle.

A cloud in a shape of a lizard floats gently by.

Wednesday, 16 December 2020

Pleased

The handsome dog fox came visiting again just for the one afternoon and night . He curled up on the lawn  in the back garden . Look at me to say hello and went to sleep. So pleased he feels that he can comeback to me.

Resident robin sitting alongside a blue tit on the fence. Both have got a nest each in the big bush at the back of the garden .

Monday, 7 December 2020

Walk With A Crow

Walking home on a very wet and windy day I met with a grey and black crow, it hopped along for a short while chattering to me . Then all off a sudden it flew off  chattering. Maybe it wanted to share my umbrella or wanted some company .

Wednesday, 2 December 2020

Owl Shadow

The full moon beams down gently with its bright beams. A rustle is heard on the ground not far, then a silent glide of an owl shadow.

Tuesday, 1 December 2020

Surprise x2

The white and black cat shared drinking out of the upturned dustbin lid with the resident robin.

The squirrel came hurtling from nowhere and surprised the black cat so much the she fell of the fence .

Tuesday, 24 November 2020

Horizon

Standing on the first floor of a supermarket looking at the horizon nothing  but trees and bushes in my eyes view. Seeing the colour of late autumn and leaves clinging tightly on the branches like that they don’t want to drop. And a bit nearer some crows over head circling not sure what they saw

Sunday, 22 November 2020

Bat Into Leaf

3 pheasants in a field digging around for something to eat. Thinking I saw a bat in the near distance turned out to be a dead leaf drifting

Thursday, 19 November 2020

Forlorn

A brisk walk and came to a butterfly bush hanging over a fence looking at a clump of evening primroses looking all forlorn.

2 crows squabbling over food scraps, looking like prize fighters.

Tuesday, 17 November 2020

Aerial

The resident robin is heard but not seen. An other disused tv aerial is being used for a nest base.

Monday, 16 November 2020

Refreshing

A walk home in the evening is so refreshing in the wind and fine rain. The leaves are now a soggy mess and last week they were still crisp and crunchy. A Fox is startled as I walk by .

Sunday, 15 November 2020

2 For Joy?

The next door cat popped it’s head around the patio door , do feel sorry for it as since they got the dog the cat is largely ignored, it is fed but spends most of its time outside and this is the cat that bullied mine!

2 magpies sheltering under the eaves of the house opposite and if I remember the rhyme it’s 2 for joy.

Saturday, 14 November 2020

November Morning

A typical November morning grey and dull but no rain at the moment. Been lucky with the weather this November had some really beautiful days,

The clouds are racing along as to see if they get somewhere quick.

Friday, 13 November 2020

Rose hips

Walked passed a fence completely covered in rose hips. It made me think of the rose hips syrup what was made for babies years ago.

Fine rain in the wind and the sun out very mild but a bit of a chilly wind. Very changeable the November weather

Thursday, 12 November 2020

Carpet Of Leaves

The front lawn is hiding under a carpet of sweet chestnut leaves . Parakeets seem to be nesting quite near as you hear them chatter and squawk between themselves. A white and black cat takes a drink out of the upturn dustbin lid.

Saturday, 7 November 2020

One Misty Moisty

When cloudy was the weather , an old nursery rhyme I remember, well that turned into a beautiful November day . And parakeets are nesting in a block of flats .

Monday, 2 November 2020

Wriggly Worm

A wriggly worm wriggling on its way to I don’t nowhere , in the rain , if my sister was there she would of picked it up and put it on the grass, me I left it there as it looked happy.

Got soaked in the rain and the high winds ? Good job I wasn’t on my broomstick.

Thursday, 29 October 2020

Squirrel

Saw the squirrel run across the fence nearly falling off the fence at first thought it was running to get out of the rain, then I saw next door door cat! Say no more.

Thursday, 22 October 2020

Autumn Morning

A damp but reasonably bright autumn morning. A squirrel runs along the top of the fence to go and gather some sweet chestnuts that have fallen just recently. The green prickly cases and the creamy white insides contrasts very well and if you are lucky you see a brown sweet chestnut nestling inside adding to the autumnal colours. At times nature is beautiful.

Monday, 27 July 2020

Just Quiet

It’s been very quiet here apart from seeing young foxes running about. A few good days of good weather then rain .
No sighting of the resident robin, he been quiet as well.
Patio door opened to get fresh air in the house and listening to the rain and it’s very chilly I think.
Ps. A huge thunderstorm so it’s not very quiet!

Sunday, 19 July 2020

Snails again

Watching snails in the rain and noticed they move quite fast. A ladybird on a leaf on the pear tree and it looked quite contented.
Picked up some fallen plums , they have fruited early this year, but not heavily laden this year though.

Saturday, 18 July 2020

Peacock Butterfly

Nearly trod on a peacock butterfly that was resting on the path. It’s been a long since I seen one close up.
The weather has turned hot very hot.

Tuesday, 14 July 2020

Teased

Next door cat trying to camouflage itself behind the bush , but didn’t do a good job the birds knew it was there and teased it by flying low over it .
Very dark rain clouds are coming over just in time to rain when I leave for work!

Monday, 13 July 2020

Gorgeous Combination

Went a different way in the car and the scenery was completely different green and flat then came the cornfields and poppies. The red poppies against the wheat corn etc such a gorgeous colour combination.
A small tortoise bitterly came flying past Without a care in the world.
A spider spinning a web from the beech tree as I walk past. So delicate but strong and deadly .

Saturday, 11 July 2020

Where are the slugs?

Radishes and beetroot are going from strength to strength. Maybe I have got green fingers after all.
The robin family have now gone their separate way, going to miss them , but I still got the resident robin through thank goodness.
The front lawn now looks like a hay field, I think it looks nice but other people well they are entitled to think whatever they want, I have got far more important things to think about at the moment.
Yes I should do the lawn, but just lately every time I want to go and do it next door is out and starts telling me what I should do and what I am doing wrong. So I ignore him have to , at this moment in time I am on a very short fuse. But hopefully it will pass. And then I come in and slam the door. Childish I know but hey that’s life at the moment.
A snail came indoors to say hello, but I haven’t noticed any slugs at the moment and it’s been quite wet lately. Slugs where are you?

Thursday, 25 June 2020

Seem

Watching the snails in the fast lane in the back garden, they seemed to be enjoying the rain this morning. The robin family seems to enjoy coming out in the rain .
Enjoyed the rain this morning with the patio door opened and watching and listening to the rain very relaxing

Monday, 22 June 2020

Visitors

The robin family have been visiting often which brings great pleasure. Making the most of them as they will soon fly away and start a new life for themselves but hope they stay near.

Thursday, 18 June 2020

Robin Family

Had some visitors in the garden, the robin family. Mum dad and 3 youngsters. I seen one of them already the day before as it’s got white tipped wings like it’s dad. But the other 2 haven’t got white tipped wings. It was so nice to see them hopping here there and everywhere, exploring the honeysuckle and the trees and hedge. They are so cute and perfect. Made my day ! And one came to the patio wind and had a good look in and it was so gorgeous to look at the bright eyes the perfect way of the feathers. It was heaven.

Wednesday, 17 June 2020

White Balloon.

A small white balloon scurries past the great big grey storm clouds trying to hide from them, but it didn’t have to , as the storm clouds themselves raced past and didn’t drop any rain.

Tuesday, 16 June 2020

Two Snails

Two snails on the upturned old washing up bowl, doing what comes naturally in the rain. Looked quite cute .
More like April weather sunshine and showers.

Sunday, 14 June 2020

Frenzy

The crow flew past a tree and disturbed the midgets that were buzzing around the tree in a frenzy.

Thursday, 11 June 2020

Just Like Dad

While waiting for a friend , looking at the silvery raindrops on the green leaves of the shrub next to me . The green highlighted the silvery raindrops.
A big treat today, I saw one of the young robins whose nest is in my hedge at the back , he flew onto the fence and stayed awhile and I know he belongs to my resident robin as he has got white tipped wing feathers just like his dad.

Wednesday, 10 June 2020

Dank and Gloomy

A dank gloomy day more like a winter’s day. Even the birds are hiding, but it’s quite warm and a bit muggy. Now the first rain drops have fallen. But who knows the weather might be glorious later but I doubt it.

Monday, 8 June 2020

Snail and Magpie

A small snail moving very slowly underneath a lavender bush. A magpie flew overhead so close that I felt it’s wings feathers.

Sunday, 7 June 2020

Melodic

A blackbird decides to sing in the pouring rain and with the music of the rain in the background made for a melodic few minutes.
It’s tipping down again with the rain and slugs and snails are under cover . Nearly step on a big fat worm!

Saturday, 6 June 2020

Intelligent

More like a late rainy autumn day than a summer day.
We were told that the food bins we use were animal proof! Could you please tell that to the foxes round here. The managed to knock mine over and opened the lid, which I know I closed properly, but they didn’t find much apart from  a few tea bags and a mouldy orange. Foxes round here are very intelligent .

Thursday, 4 June 2020

Great Rage.

The feisty robin flew with a great rage at next doors cat and the cat was so startled that it ran off so quick, never seen it move so quick. And the robin was so loud it was if it was shouting.

Wednesday, 3 June 2020

Contrast.

The contrast of today’s weather and yesterday’s, today is dull overcast and a bit chillier, yesterday was a very hot bright sky day .
The honeysuckle is now dying down naturally and it’s given the birds insects and butterflies a lot of pleasure. Looking to put a new honeysuckle along the other fence. And not forgetting a lot of pleasure for me!

Monday, 1 June 2020

Fortunately

Watching and listening to the hooded crows sitting on the sky dish and on the chimney pots, quite comical really , wondering if they was having an argument or a discussion.
Going out for a drive we came across cows in the road! They escaped from their field. Fortunately no cows were hurt and no humans!

Sunday, 31 May 2020

Will

Beetroot and radishes are really coming up well. So hopefully I will start planning a veg spot, I will I will. Hopefully! What a wrong word to use ! Will is the word.

Friday, 29 May 2020

Perfect Afternoon

A tortoiseshell butterfly rested on the honeysuckle and in the background the robin is singing and the light wind is making music as well as it rustles through the leaves and now a blackbird has joined in a perfect afternoon.

Tuesday, 26 May 2020

Two Budgies

Saw two budgies fly pass, one blue and the other was green . Someone did say that their budgies escaped so I was able to say in the direction these two went. So hopefully they will be found soon.

Monday, 25 May 2020

Bounced

For some unknown reason a blue tit flew into the living room window, it bounced of it and fell, fortunately it fell onto the grass, I made sure it was ok and left it alone for a little while, I have got a friend who I could of got in touch with if needed to tell me what to do with it, but it sat awhile then all of a sudden it flew away . Hope it’s ok

Sunday, 24 May 2020

LovelyThing Weather

The wind was so loud and wailed so much . The sky was so dark mean and moody. Then the rain came down so hard it lashed against the windows and they rattled! Then after that happened the sun came out and the sky was blue with a little bit of cloud! Lovely thing weather, never the same here. Today is very much the same as yesterday but at the moment no rain.

Thursday, 21 May 2020

Grasshopper.

Saw a grasshopper for the first time in ages . Love them love the way they are made and hop and everything about them made my day.

Wednesday, 20 May 2020

Purple and Green

The purple flowering bush whose name escapes me I must google it later, is highlighted by the green leaves of the apple tree. A lovely colour combination for a crochet project .
A very warm and sunny day.

Tuesday, 19 May 2020

Sad

As I was walking up the path to go home , I noticed that a huge branch of the sweet chestnut was torn off ! I am so angry , it wasn’t in the way . And no it wasn’t done by teenagers it was done by so called  law abiding adults because they thought it was in the way! I am fuming! And they left the branch actually it’s more than a branch it’s a whopping great big branch in the middle of the of the green . Words fail.

Sunday, 17 May 2020

Swing

A pair of magpies made a nest in a disused tv aerial! They seem to be happy.
An old tyre is hung on the strongest branch of one of the beech trees so children can have a swing then it’s taken down when not required .

Saturday, 16 May 2020

Strim

Strimmer is sorted. So as trimming I shall go later.
Quite a few people said the weekend is going to be nice but not in my neck of the woods.  Dull and overcast with quite a bit of wind , so really it’s strumming weather.

Friday, 15 May 2020

Sun and Clouds

The sun is out this morning. A lovely clear spring morning so far.
The sun apologised for hiding the other day it was due to the fact that it shares itself with everything, it needed a much need rest and hugs from the clouds and the clouds were grey because they were sad that the sun wasn’t feeling happy. But today the sun is happy and said hello and said the clouds are way on holiday for a few days!

Thursday, 14 May 2020

Winked

The grey clouds came swirling in to close the evening to open the night, the sun just lifted a cloud slightly and winked as to say I be back tomorrow.
A lone parakeet flew across and then an other one came.

Wednesday, 13 May 2020

Quiet

Weeding done on a cold chilly day and very overcast.
Radishes and beetroot coming along nicely.
Wrong strimmer line.
Otherwise very quiet outdoors no birds , butterflies or insects about . I am sure there is but not here.

Monday, 11 May 2020

Bumble Bee Visit

When upstairs to the bathroom whilst cleaning my teeth I noticed that there was a bumble bee resting on the window sill inside so I had a closer look at it but not to close I didn’t want to scare it off. Bees are such beautiful creatures, bumble bees look so cuddly their bodies are so perfect the bands of yellow really hi -lights the black and the wings so delicate but yet so strong.
It stayed quite awhile and I spoke to it very gently , it was nice having a conversation with a bumble bee and hopefully I will have an other one.

Scented Patch.

I was sent a bouquet of flowers which are really nice and the lilies have got the most gorgeous scent, which made me think about doing my own little scented patch near the patio door. There is a small patch of garden next to it, so I be making plans for it, I know we are still in lockdown and be unable to get plants etc for a while , but I come to realise that I like planning , but one flower I will most definitely have and that is stocks and oh an other one pinks, they remind me of my dad who was a keen gardener.
So let the planning start!

Sunday, 10 May 2020

Drizzly

Waited for the rain to come all day , as it was a grey dismal day out there then finally it came this evening the drizzly sort of rain.
A wren came up to the patio door had a good look in then it hopped off.

Saturday, 9 May 2020

Caw

The caw of the rook startled me as I walk passed, it seemed to be having a go at the car what was started to go out.
Noticed a lot of blue butterflies lately again the honeysuckle seems to be the attraction.

Friday, 8 May 2020

Happy Days

An other beetroot plant is popping through happy days! And the radishes are going from strength to strength.
Must do weeding over the weekend got no excuse now!

Thursday, 7 May 2020

Conkers

Come September the horse chestnut trees are going to be loaded with big brown shiny conkers as the trees are loaded with blossom. Pass few on the way to work. Something to look forward to.

Tuesday, 5 May 2020

Sparrow

A sparrow came to visit the honeysuckle, it’s the first sparrow I have sen for ages in my garden.
Nothing much happening apart from spiders spinning their webs and moving to and fro in the wind, not a breeze but a cold sharp wind on a bright May Day.

Sunday, 3 May 2020

Repot

I was going to get rid of the honeysuckle it is so old now, but so glad I didn’t as the blue tits have been visiting it daily. The honeysuckle has had so many visits from the blue tits this morning.
A dull morning what looks like it’s going to rain later.
Going to repot beetroot and radishes, growing them in pots just to see how they do. Not putting them straight into the garden as the cat next door uses the garden!

Saturday, 2 May 2020

Wild Flowers

I don’t know what the fascination of the honeysuckle is with the blue tits but they keep visiting it and it’s lovely to watch them flitting about in amongst it.
Been watching a sparrow bringing food to his family which has nested under the eaves of the roof opposite , so busy he is.
The grass verges haven’t been cut so they are full of dandelions daisies and buttercups and in some places forget -me -nots  , they really look nice. And in some places on the way to work the bluebells have popped up always nice to see.

Friday, 1 May 2020

Attacked

The cat got attacked by the robin as it got to near the nest, so it shot off so quick , think the robin really surprised the cat. But the nest is firmly in the middle if the hedge and I think the cat would really get stuck if it tried to get into the hedge and having a very angry robin flapping and squawking in your face not nice and not a good idea.

Wednesday, 29 April 2020

Nest

The robin paid a visit heard him before I saw him. I now know where the nest is , it’s in a hedge at the back and it’s definitely out of harms way no way can any cats can get in there.

Monday, 27 April 2020

Snails Merrily

Putting out the rubbish saw a snail making its way merrily over a small bag of rubbish so I decided not to throw that bag of rubbish away , nothing bad in the bag only bits and pieces no one wants. It’s ok I can’t pick up snails.i put the bag out next time.
Fine rain at the moment . Grey  and dull as well.

Sunday, 26 April 2020

Cloud Spotting

Cloud spotting, thin wispy clouds gently wafting along one looks like a swan flying and an other looks like a biplane. Great thing imagination.

Saturday, 25 April 2020

Enjoying

Whilst on the bus going to work yes I do have to go to work , I saw a bird of prey flying above the playing fields , it was swooping and hovering, looking as it was having a good time and enjoying its self maybe it wasn’t sharing the sky with planes.
Very dull and cloudy this morning changed into a lovely afternoon.

Friday, 24 April 2020

Beetroot and Radishes

Was given some seeds for the grandchildren to grow but with this lockdown am unable to give them to the grandchildren, they were given to me at work. So I have planted them and will give the grandchildren a weekly progress report. Was given beetroot and radishes and I enjoy both! But you never know if they grow and I can give them to the grandchildren if lockdown is lifted.
The grandchildren love growing sunflowers and tomatoes they do that with their mum. Hopefully they are growing them .

Thursday, 23 April 2020

Cheeky.

2 cheeky blue tits came to visit the honeysuckle. Really don’t know the fascination of the honeysuckle and birds but so glad I have got the honeysuckle. Nearly got rid of it.  A pigeon flew over and wasn’t impressed with the honeysuckle it seems to attract the smaller birds.

Tuesday, 21 April 2020

Motorway

The 2 huge beech trees are in leaf adding a spring feeling outside . Magpies are sitting in them having a rest.
Carefully avoid a slug and a snail . They are beginning to wake up from their winter nap. Their silvery trails looks like a map of a motorway.

Monday, 20 April 2020

Shooting Stars

On a clear crystal night the shooting stars gave a brilliant show. Words cannot really describe the beauty and awe of the stars shooting against the inky dark sky and in the background the moon with its soft glow.

Sunday, 19 April 2020

Morning

The shadow of a bird flew across the high hedge  a pigeon I think it was a short and dumpiest shape added to the early morning going ons .
The male sparrow is kept busy feeding his family under the roof.
The song thrush somewhere near sings with all it’s might,  a glorious song .

Saturday, 18 April 2020

Early Hours

Woke up in the early hours, looked out the window and saw a fox going about it business and then I saw the owl swooping most probably seen a rat or a mouse.
It’s drizzly at the moment and so quiet apart from the fox and the owl no one is about .
Dawn is not ready to break , but I still go down and make a cup of tea

Friday, 17 April 2020

Notice?

Then the rain came not a lot but it came after some really lovely weather and it turned very cold very quick.
I don’t know if if just me but I think that the birds are happy that there is no planes about , the birds seem to fly more . And sing more or is it that I have taken more notice of them ?

Thursday, 16 April 2020

Lichen

For a change the evening air. Fills the house with its gentle scent and it feels gentle.
The clouds show against the evening sky, no moon at the moment.
The beech tree has a light green lichen and a dark green lichen growing on its trunk, making a lovely pattern that only nature can draw.

Wednesday, 15 April 2020

Buttercups Daises and Dandelion Clocks

All the above studded the grass verge as I walked to the bus stop. I do have to go to work l am a key worker who doesn’t drive.
Then I happened to look na garden as I was passing and saw frilled orange and yellow tulips they looked gorgeous as they danced in the breeze.

Wasp

Dawn chorus chilly but bright morning When putting out the rubbish, made for a pleasant wake up! Saw the tail of a fox quickly disappearing.
A wasp woke up son by its buzzing !

Tuesday, 14 April 2020

Blackbird

Blackbird with his beak full with tasty morsels for his family. Not seen the robins for a couple of days . Still chilly but bright.  Now to go for my daily walk. Not wanting to go but making myself go, I know I will feel better for it.
A wren is in the honeysuckle bush making itself at home. Not very often I see it but it brightened up my day. Now it’s walking around my garden oh how lovely!

Monday, 13 April 2020

Parakeet

An unexpected visitor flew into the back garden, a parakeet! They were flying back to where they roost and one decided to land in the apple tree. Why I do not know, then all of a sudden it flew away chatting away .
A really dull start to the day after having some really lovely weather.
The tulips made a good show again. They are still making a good show .

Saturday, 11 April 2020

Sparrows

Sparrows have built a nest under the eaves of the roof opposite, I don’t know why it took me a long time to notice. When I walked up the hill I noticed an other sparrow sitting on the roof of a greenhouse he didn’t fly away just sunning himself.

Friday, 10 April 2020

Dancing?

Yesterday in the end I saw 3 butterflies the last one being a cabbage white .
Bed linen drying outside having a good blow and when brought in hopefully a nice fresh smell it, will do.
Heard the dawn chorus this morning lovely sound. And heard the sounds of birds feet running over the flat bit of the roof or were they dancing?

Thursday, 9 April 2020

Butterfly

It’s been very quiet these past few days. Weather is really lovely at the moment nice to have the back door open and let the breeze freshen up the house.
The robins are very quiet at the moment.
Just seen a red admiral butterfly fly past how lovely. Then a tortoiseshell butterfly sat amongst the honeysuckle.

Tuesday, 7 April 2020

Bumble Bee and Bat

A big bumble bee came to visit. Excuse me it went I like to pop in have a good nose then I be out. So in it popped had a good look round , then it went.

Red

The robin was sitting on the fence then all of a sudden it pounced on a worm , he was so quick , I swear he was smacking his lips.
The red tulips, have multiplied and they scattered themselves in the grass they look good,

Sunday, 5 April 2020

Done

Done what I wanted to in the garden. Found snails and worms galore. One corner is now tidy . The fresh air done me good. It was pleasantly warm nice breeze.  Maybe an hour a day will help the me get the garden into shape. Slow but sure! Snails come to mindLol!

Friday, 3 April 2020

Daily Walk

Daily walk done had company son joined me. Then tomorrow we decided to go out in the back garden to start to tidy up. Things are quiet round here. But it’s cloudy and rather dull.

Thursday, 2 April 2020

Starling Versus Cat.

A starling came to visit and was looking at the hedge in the back garden, next doors cat saw it, so slowly it crept and slowly slowly the cat went, but the starling saw it and just look at the cat as to say you won’t catch me , then the cat pounced or tried to but the starling was to quick for it and the cat’s missed but got her head stuck in the hedge but she wasn’t hurt only her pride and she slunked off.

Tuesday, 31 March 2020

Overhead

On my walk I saw some green finches flying in and out of a hedge , not very often I see them . The spring flowers are putting on a good show. Overhead 3 parakeets flew squawking away to each other , you hear them before you see them .

Sunday, 29 March 2020

Thinking

We are being encouraged to have an hour exercise, mine is walking , but where I live it’s more of  a concrete jungle. I have one my eyes more and listen more to see and hear the beauty of nature. The trees are beginning to unfurl their leaves . The blossom is beginning to come out more adding a spot of colour.
My daily visitor came this morning , sat on the swing and looked at me through the window for quite some time ,wonder what he was thinking?

Saturday, 28 March 2020

Thank You Robins

An other lovely spring like day but a bit more windy.
The robin came to visit again sitting on its favourite spot on the fence . It is so reassuring to see the robins in this difficult time I do so appreciate them visiting . I do my best to look after them . So thank you robins you mean so much more to me than words can say .

Friday, 27 March 2020

Looking Forward

The peace and quiet continues only the sounds of nature breaks it now and again.
Next doors cat comes a bit more into the back garden and so does the Tom cats in the area yep it’s the beginning time of that! Wish people would get their cats done both male and female.
The robins have been also quite quiet.
The weather is lovely fresh and bracing . At the weekend I will be going out into the back garden to do some tidying up.
I think I know where to put the wildlife garden . There is a nice spot on the left hand side in the morning it’s shady and in the afternoon it’s sunny but not until late afternoon . So when I am out there over the weekend I will have a good look and start making plans . Looking forward to do that.

Wednesday, 25 March 2020

Yellow Tulips

The yellow tulips spread out their petals to capture the warmth of this march sun. An other glorious spring day .
A bumble bee looking for somewhere to rest it decided to rest awhile on the honeysuckle which is sprouting it’s green leaves.

Tulips

The red tulips are pushing their way through. A ring of mushrooms/toadstools adorn the back garden . Looking at the night sky I am sure that the stars are twinkling more brightly.
The robins are busy and a blackbird sings as it looks for food

One Pigeon

A lone pigeon on the roof opposite first one I seen for ages.
Robin and blue tit eye each other up on the fence but decided to ignore each other .
A beautiful spring day and the greenery against the perfect blue sky looks lovely.

The Robin Chronicles

The robins seem to be settled in the garden now. And in this difficult time it is a pleasure to see them hopping about . They are getting quite adventurous one even coming near the patio door. Must find a safe place to put some bird food out for them as I noticed that next door cat was in the garden again but only for a short while. Then all of a sudden a blue tit flew into the garden and sat awhile.

A rather grey and dull day with a bit of rain , but quite fresh out there..

Confetti

The robin on the fence again with his redbreast ruffling in the wind.
Past couple of days the weather has really been spring like and quite warm . The blossom is now coming out . It’s like pink and white confetti went it falls.

Ducks and Planes

The ducks turned up their beaks to the bread people fed them with. They were all snuggled up on the banks.
A notice said you are entering the quiet wood so please turn of your phone and keep talking to a minimum so you can enjoy nature’s sounds,  and all you could hear was the airplanes flying overhead.

Alas

Geese and hens roaming free in a garden, not mine alas . Wish I could have some but I don’t think my neighbours would be happy. I can always dream. Also the garden is to small.
A partridge sitting in the field watching all the traffic go by. I wonder what he was thinking?
Still places a bit flooded but not as bad as it has been.

Blessed

Be very blessed, 2 robins at the same time in the garden one on the fence and one on the old swing frame. Both looking in , I don’t have nets at the back , so I could see them , them me . They stayed for a while and then they went.

Song Thrush

Hidden from view a song thrush fills the morning air with its song, in the background a airplane tries to compete, but the song thrush wins.
1 for sorrow 2 for joy just flown pass.

Wednesday, 11 March 2020

A nice spring day , quite warm.
The robins are doing well, one came near the patio door and looked in , I think that they are getting used to me , hope so.
Just realised that the pigeons are not about as much as they used to.

Nest and Reading

Robins are now nesting in my garden. They built their nest so just in case next doors cat decide to visit or any other cats, that the cats cannot get to them, but they are safe. I will keep an eye on them the Robins and indeed the cats .
I bought a book about helping wildlife and with out realising it I am helping already, but need to improve. I got already clumps of nettles, trees stumps , unfortunately my trees had to be cut, because they were so old and indeed dangerous.
Not sure about pond at this moment of time I have got a very small garden, but I will think about it. A butterfly bush was an other suggestion but yet again small garden big bush, but it’s worth looking into. An other suggestion was leaving part of the garden to grow wild , which I can do and sow some wild flower seeds . Grow single bloom flowers for bees and forget-me-knots for them as well.  Leaving obviously water and bird food out no problem.
Still got loads to read up, and must start putting things into practice.

Squirrels

Watching the squirrels running through the trees to get to their food larder. Fun watching them. Nice spring day . But had a heavy downpour just the one and it didn’t last long.

Saturday, 7 March 2020

Little did I realize that having the trees cut in the front garden is helping the wildlife. I had to have them cut down due to the fact they were so old and dying . They were conifers. So the tree  stumps will be left to help the insects. And ivy is supposed to be good for wildlife but to keep an eye on it .

Rain and Robin Again

The robin came back and sat on the fence stretching his wings in the rain looked liked he was having a shower. Then he gave a loud call and flew off.
Woke up to a lovely morning no rain at the moment .

Rain and Robin

Yet again an other day of rain, mind you the last couple of days have not been to bad. But today it’s constant rain. Noticed that the robin with the white tips on his /hers wings was sitting under the fence for a while cocking it’s head from side to side and it seemed to be enjoying itself in the rain.
Next doors cat came into the back garden for the first time in ages but she didn’t stay long. Had a scratch on the fence and away she went.
More daffodils popped up, tulips leaves are now coming through.

Spring

Warmer today no rain the wind is not to bad. Saw some early born lambs with their mums  next to the farm house in a field. They were really early. But the farmer really looks after his sheep very well. Still flooding in places the rivers are very slowly returning to normal, but you still get people going so fast on wet and flooded water in the lanes then they wonder how accidents happen.
Primroses adorn the railway embankments so pretty to see, spring is in the air.

Wildlife Welcome

The rain what supposed to come yesterday came today. It’s bucketing down.
Now next doors cat doesn’t come into the garden, I am looking at this very moment thinking how can I encourage wildlife to come back into the garden.
I would love to help the wildlife especially the bees and butterflies, I always leave a clump of stinging nettles for them .
I think I have to read up how to encourage wildlife into come in.
Wish wildlife could read, I put a notice up saying you are all so welcome , please come in and enjoy.
This is going to be my new project .

A herd of deer resting in a field. Then a bit further on 3 deers negotiating a stream. Then saw a pig enjoying his or hers mud bath their mate was in their sty. Have got plenty of space the pigs.
A bad landslide and plenty of trees and branches down again. Had rain heavy rain then fine rain . No winds at the moment .

Seen From A Train

Watching rabbits playing in the afternoon sun.  Seeing fields still flooded due to the severe rain we had lately. Seeing small landslides , trees fallen , branches everywhere. The brown churned up mud looking like chocolate ridges . Water fowl in makeshift ponds . A water creature swimming in a lake too far to see what it was.  People walking their dogs wearing their wellies and waterproofs in all different colours.

2 Robins

Heard a noise in the garden went to the window to have a look , 2 robins fighting, first time I seen that. It was quite a nasty fight, but glad to say neither of them was hurt.
Just seen a crow pulling up moss from a roof across the way, someone’s nest will be cosy.

Wet and Windy

Wet and windy again. No birds to been seen . Have to go out in it later but I don’t mind I actually rather like this weather. Good job I got a windproof and rainproof coat and shoes even my bag is rainproof!
Just noticed that the honeysuckle is beginning to unfurl it’s leaves , a clump of daffodils is coming through. The crocus and snowdrops are a bit wind battered but look so lovely .
